Restraining orders have a lower burden of proof than an actual case. Restraining orders can also be obtained if the person "feels" as if they will be put in danger. An actual event does not always have to happen.
I think you need to relax. Shafer is gone, but that doesn't make McCarney a bad guy.

Well, in this USA today article, he appologizes for it. You don't appologize if you have done nothing wrong.

My point is that we keep promoting this guy as a high character guy. It is hard to make that out of a guy that has domestic issues in his past. I am stating what I have read. What is so illegal about that? Iowas State said they were "embarrassed" and had no idea about this prior to his hiring.
This article also states McCarney acknowledges the "mistake" and pledges for a "second chance." No charges were filed, but that doesn't mean the abuse didn't occur. Why do we need a guy with any skeletons in his closet when we have several choices taht make sense here. And yes , I mean choices. Shafer might not be the guy, (although ai believe he is), there are other fine choices.

Wait when did he get accused of beating his wife, within the past few months or was this like last year? Im confused how something that happened a year ago could be relevant now? I dont think it ever even went to court
The incident happened in 1995.
This is a very desperate thread in attempt to smear Mccarney - shame .. shame.

My point is , hire him or not, he is not Novak. He is not on theat level. The only similaritiy is that they are both older looking for a place to retire.

Actually, I am not perfect. But I have never had a single run in with the law. I haven't even had a speeding ticket. The police have never been involved in my life. McCarney cannot say that.

You are right. I should not have used that term because it is not certain. Domestic dispute could mean verbal abuse. I appologize and have edited it in my posts. The USA Today article does state that was the case though.
