Will see how fast they get a stadium...

I'm sure it will only be a matter of weeks with that large $50,000 a year from the alumni.

That won't even cover the Gatorade for the construction crew.
I read it as $50,000 over 5 years, not $50,000 per year for 5 years.

Anyways, more power to them. They've been talking about it for a while. But doesn't the NCAA currently have a moratorium on adding teams to D1?
Good for them. Troy needs more company in the Belt. Another I-A cupcake we could schedule and beat the snot out of them. We can say, we are doing our part playing in state teams unlike some people.
5 D-1 football teams in Alabama is too many.
so they are just jumping into D1A w/o building first? Interesting.
I would think Birmingham-SOuthern will be out a football coach with this news.
Jeff Bower's not doing anything. Just sayin'.
Well they already do have a stadium - Ladd where the Senior Bowl is played which is probably in better shape than what we play in. Though I think the club football they've been playing for the past several years has played at an on campus IM field near the baseball stadium. I'm glad they finally did it as I was a founding member of the original club football team there in the mid 80's. We had 1 major problem at that time - Cliff Ellis didn't want us around nor did the admin at the time but had allies with Gottfried & SGA so we only lasted a couple of years before we got run off but I had transferred to UAB by that time as there was so much student apathy at that college.

Bower would be a great choice for South Alabama. He would be challenged with startup. They could get him at a good price and he would be close to Hattiesburg where his daughter is buried.

It's been amazing listening to Mobile sports talk radio this afternoon. Almost everyone has been positive about the move, unlike B'ham radio with UAB.

The talk show hosts did say that they hope USA follows in TSU's footsteps and not UAB's. they said that UAB will never amount to anything in football, unlike TSU..

They're going to play 1AA/FCS for a century before moving up?

I heard on the rumor mill that JJ might make the jump to Hoover High. Don't know how accurate that is.
This kinda sucks.

USA along with BSC will just drain potential talent from UAB.

UAT/AU is already a major problem as it is.

As hard as CNC recruits Georgia, I don't think it'll make that big of a difference.

We'll see how long the love affair lasts when a recruit or two wants to play football in Tuscaloosa-South instead of Tuscaloosa.
