Today Pitt received a commitment from Cameron Saddler from Gateway high school. He is a 4* back on both Scout and Rivals. He is talking about his buddy Shayne Hale joining him. Hale is a 5* LB on Scout and 4* on Rivals. It is expected that 4* WR Jonathon Baldwin will also end up at Pitt along with 4* Averin Collier whose brother Kevin is already a Panther.

According to folks in WPA the win over WVU has really impressed the kids and the Pitt FB staff are now at rock star status when they are visiting the local high schools. Wanny is a terrific closer and 2 weeks ago Saddler was a lock to head to Virginia. The contract extension has really eased kids minds as well and kids who Pitt wasn't an priority for are now looking a the Panthers.

Pitt truly needed a signature win because you can only sell potential for so long. Unless something freakish happens, next year could be Pitt's coming out party. Finally. I know Wanny has taken some heat for his performance the first couple of years, and in some case rightfully so. But it is becoming obvious that he has a vision for the Pitt program and he could be on the verge of realizing it.
See you boys in Tampa next year 03-wink
The build up to next year "Brawl" will be very interesting.

I think Pitt will end up with the best defense in the BE next year, and top 10 nationally. Now if wanny can get the offense to be anywhere near as good as the defense, watch out!

Indeed, both teams are returning a ton and you know there will be a burnng desire for payback by the Mountaineers.
i agree pitt is going to be dangerous, i'm glad you all have to come to tampa next year. qb play will be greatly improved, your highly recruited wr's just need to step it up. lesean mccoy is going to be a superstar. and like everyone says your d will probably be at least top 3 in the league.
Pitt has been a sleeping giant and it just woke up in Morgantown...watch out for the Panthers...they will be carrying the conference these next few years.
Wanny always been an excellent recruiter. Pitt is definitely on the rise. It will be interesting game next game. I am glad UCONN got Pitt at home next year.

Who are the teams Pitt will play next year OOC?
Buffalo (H)
Bowling Green (H)
Iowa (H)
Notre Dame (A)
Navy (A)

I'm not sure if the Navy game will be switched for anything because right now the schedule will have 6 H and 6 A.

League Schedule:
RU (H)
UL (H)
WVu (H)

UConn (A)
USF (A)
SU (A)
UCinn (A)

next year will be very telling of wannestadt, pitt has the talent to win all of their ooc games. this really could be a huge breakout year for pitt.

Okay, let's not go THAT far. They'll be much improved. "Carrying the conference?" Please.
It's been 3 yrs now listing to this, when Wanny can out coach somebody get back to us.

Maybe you havent heard about the way that he outcoached RichRod. It was a brilliant scheme, and the players executed the plays almost perfectly.
Gimme a break, Pitt has been ready to turn the corner since Wanny got there, the only promblem is he can't find the corner. WV & richrod choked. were was the brilliant shemes when Va beat them by 30, The 3 point win over cuse was statement. the wk before they held USF to 48, another brilliant sheme.

You wanted someone to let you know when Wannstedt out coaches someone, so I did.

You can call it choking on WV's part if you want, but when your offense averages close to 40 points per game and over 300 yards rushing, and almost 500 total yards per game, and in one big game, you end up with 9 points, and barely 200 total yards, and the defense that your playing had your offense out of whack because of the defensive schemes, and your team could not adjust, I would call that being outcoached. You are not going to see RichRod get outcoached very often, but it happened during this game.
Pitt missed a total of about 2 tackles all night and the Pitt DL spent as much time in the WV backfield as Steve Slaton did. Obviously Wanny found something and the players were near flawless in their execution of it.

BTW, we picked up Cliff Stoudt's son Zach tonight. He is a 3 * QB out of Ohio. We expect Tino Sunseri to commit this weekend during his official.
Averin Collier is looking at Cuse hard...we'll see.
i have to admit things might be changing at pitt, that was the most animated i've seen wannestadt as coach. during the michigan st. and navy game he looked downright bored, like paterno moping up and down the sidelines. here he was getting into people's faces and fired up and so was the d-coordinator and the team responded. i'm willing to give pitt a mulligan this year. with better qb play pitt should at least have been 7-5, it was a shame stull went out for the season after showing promise early. but those early wannestadt recruits now have experience and have taken their lumps, not many excuses left if they start blowing games to navy next year.
Agreed. Pitt needs to be at least an 8 win team next season and probably closer to 10. We get WVU, Louisville, & Rutgers at home. We have Iowa at home and ND on the road early. Both of those should be winnable games. Pitt should be 5-0 OOC next season. If they go 4-3 in conference that is 9 wins right there.

Collier might look hard at Cuse with McCoy entrenched at Pitt. Shady will go after 3 years though, So Collier could still redshirt and be the man as a RS Soph.

Maybe not next season...but my key phrase was "next few years"...

I think WVU will slump slightly when they lose Slaton and White and I think USF and Pitt will be at the top of the conference in the next few years...I don't think that's a stretch at all.
