Not sure if this has been posted already (I apologize if so). Unless a lot of people all went to the restroom or to get food/drinks, there are a lot of empty seats.

The official attendance for the game was 53,000 and some change.
I guess 25,000 of those 53,000 wore clocks of invisibility on Saturday.
the hokies did their part, but BC should really get a round of applause for bringing their 12 fans to the game.
BC is certainly struggling in the conference with regards to bowl placement and fan interest. It looks they were dropped down to ACC's #4 bowl and will play a very average 7-5 Michigan State. Obviously their fans don't think much of the ACC championship game.

Actually, even the Hokies didn't seem to do their part. They usually travel between 15 and 25K. I'd be surprised if they had 10K actually in attendance for that game.
Not the sort of image the ACC was hoping for with its championship game.
The Big East would be as bad, which is why the league shouldn't go beyond 10.

not bad for one weeks notice in a game that is 800 miles away.
So that's what the BE raid was all for - way to go.
BC will always struggle to travel in that conference as long as they hold the ACC title game anywhere south of NYC.
i'm assuming the acc was expecting either miami or fsu to be there every year. even still it's poor planning i could see florida st travel en masse, miami not so much. this was all an attempt to try to cut into the sec's base and it failed miserably. next year it'll be in charlotte and i'm sure it will draw much better.

I agree. The Pac 10 model is the best for conferences. 10 teams, no conference championship game in football, 9-game league schedule in football (every member plays every other member) and an 18-game schedule in basketball (true round robin). The new 12-member ACC is a joke in football and badly watered down in basketball.
They need to do what the C-USA does....Have the game at the home teams field with the best record.

They began selling/securing tickets over two weeks ago. Had the Hokies lost to Virginia the securing of tickets meant nothing. As for travel arrangements, Jacksonville was ready and waiting to accommodate.
Again, even Hokie fans disappointed Gator Bowl officials with their showing. Was BC's showing far worse? Yes. But they are the much smaller school, with the lesser number of alum, the farther to travel, and the school that has no reputation in terms of traveling fanbase.

I think only the big 10 if it ever went to 12,big 12, and sec can have a conf champ game at a neutral site and expect a sellout. The pac 10 if they ever went to 12 would have a tough time if it was in the wrong spot and the wrong teams made it. Ditto the ACC. I guess if you pop fl state or clemson in one side and va tech in the other you could have a full house in jacksonville. Of if they moved it to charlotte and had say clemson-unc it would be full but it goes back the the acc's problem, not enough flagship landgrant school's. What should the ACC do, well i don't get moving it to another flordia location, think you would have the same problems as jacksonville. I guess you could try it in Charlotte or i would even think DC-baltimore but on campus would fill it up if they really wanted a full house. I bet they move it to Charlotte for a couple years though and i wouldn't be shocked if the change up their divisions.
You know what funny?
They move the championship game to North Carolina due poor attendance. And they finally get the match up they wanted, FSU vs. Miami. But UNC finally won enough games to go to Car Care Bowl with NCST or WF qualified for other bowls.
How many college football fans do you think will show up to watch two Florida teams?
There would have been a lot people in the seats if West Virginia was in the ACC and playing Virginia Tech in the conference title game.
Maybe UCF could rent 1/2 of their new stadium to the ACC so they can host their Champ Game on Friday Night...and then hopefully on Saturday...UCF could still host the CUSA Champ Game.
ACC will only need around 20,000-25,000 seats so about 1/2 of UCF's Stadium should be fine.
