How about those Blazers whippin up on Cinci! I was very impressed and pleased with our play, especially Huffman and Johnson!
We played as a team today. Johnson has become the leader of the team.
I thought Johnson really stepped it up today.

Having said that, and watching the game on TV, I think anyone could have beaten Cincy today. That team is BAD. I'll be surprised if they win a single Big East game.
Is Z teaching Huffman the hook shot? He used it twice tonight. I think this is the first time he has taken one all year.

Reduced turnovers 04-rock

A BIG improvement over Daytona!
Huffman is INCREDIBLE!!!...
It's always nice to win a game when Robert Vaden is off his shooting touch. AJ looked good. It's hard to believe he is a freshman. Walter Sharpe looked great. It's hard to believe he is a sophomore. Hats off to Lawrence Kinnard. I love his game. Zisis Sarikopoulos is out of his league. He is a liability. Reggie Huffman had a great game!

Cincy is BAD. They will struggle in the Big East.

It's still very nice to beat a Big East team, and to beat the spread (9 points).

Nice home victory for the BLAZERS!

I'm disappointed we couldn't even get 5,000 folks to Bartow Arena. I brought 3 friends.
Congrats to Mike Davis for doing something for the first time at UAB - Win 4 games in a row.

And it will be 5 in a row after a win Tuesday over Alabama A & M.

If this game had been close, I would be worried, but I can see we are improving. We still have a long way to go.
Were there even 2,000 people there? From what I saw on TV, that place was empty.
Watched the game, and AJ stepped it and took it to CINCI. Huffman was crucial and Sharpe made some nice down low moves for the 2's, and Sir Lawrence, he provided some biggness when we needed it down low. Great game all around!!!
GO BLAZERS!!! Let's pop off 9 straight, to include Kentucky!
I stumbled upon a Cincy blog from one of their beat writers who was at the game. I got the feeling if we hadn't decided to ease up on them near the end, some of their heads might have exploded. Some of my favorite comments:

At 11:36 in the game
Quote:After another UC turnover, the UAB students chant "Fun-da-mentals." It's a good point really

With 2:54 to go
Quote:There's a guy behind us that keeps yelling, "No mercy." How about a little mercy for the beat writers?
Quote:We're getting three-second calls on Hrycaniuk, five-second calls on Vaughn. I'm still waiting for a 10-second call.

At the end
Quote:Well, that wasn't too pleasant to watch.

And the post game

Quote:We requested to talk to Adam H., Alvin Mitchell and Jamual Warren. Somehow, we got John Williamson and Deonta Vaughn instead. Which would have been great if we wanted to talk to those two. But we didn't.
Quote:Williamson and Vaughn said the team didn't follow the gameplan. Basically said the Bearcats didn't play like Mick told them to play.

"Coach had a gameplan the whole week," Vaughn said. "We don’t listen, and we don’t play like we can play."

Mick basically confirmed that afterward, saying something along the lines of, "Now, maybe these guys will listen to me and follow instructions as if I know what I'm talking about."

I'll get into this more in Monday's Post, but if I'm a UC fan, that certainly worries me.

as i said in the other thread, it seems like cronin played this card after we blew out murray state in XCMA's last season. i dunno, it seems like the kind of comment that gets tagged as the dreaded "blaming the players." i dunno, mainly i just think it's interesting that he basically said the same thing after two different losses to UAB. or does he say that after every loss?

I would say about 4k

If things were a little different I'd probably agree, but when the coach is responding to a follow up question quoting the following I'd have to say he's well within his rights. Sometimes a coach does get to say "See? I tried to tell you guys, but you think you know more than the coach does. Are you happy now or will you listen next time?"

Disagree about Z. Z can give us some good minutes. He will be a starter down the road but is a descent roll player with size right now. He is learning and will continue to get better. If he was a liability he would not be on the floor.

He must have misheard this part, because I don't recall participating in any such chant. Unless this was one of the chants the band started that I couldn't really understand what they were saying.
Two of Z's fouls were ridiculous, especially the second one, when the Cindy guy just bull-rushed him shoulder to the gut.
