From what I have heard, Pitt was being groomed to take over, but allegedly bad blood began brewing between him and Phillips and that is one of the reasons he left for North Carolina.
Personally, I would love to see Pitt as the next head coach.
I had heard he went to Phillips looking for some guarantees about the future, didn't get them, and then took the job at NC.
From what I've heard recently, I don't think that'll be a fit. I liked him, though, quite a bit.
I heard his wife wanted to make the move so he did.
I think he just wanted to be near Novak!

Was this "bad blood" before, during, or after the 2006 season? I ask because the way he handled (mishandled) the O-line in 2006 -- it's almost like he was sabatoging us!
