The single most important reason to attend this year's bowl game, which sure seems that it will be the PapaJohn's Bowl in Birmingham, is to support one of the most exciting Bearcat teams EVER go for their 10th win of the season and maintain status as a Top 25 team. How could you not want to be there in person to watch Haruki wreaking havoc on the field for his LAST TIME as a Bearcat. Ben Mauk has been a real treat to watch lately as he seems to have fully recovered, and sadly this could be his last game as a Bearcat too. I can't wait to see him flipping the ball while on the run to freshman All-American "Bones" Barnett.
Of course everyone would love it if the Bearcats were playing in a "better" bowl, but they are in a bowl game for the 10th time ever (1997 Humanitarian Bowl in Boise, Idaho of all places was first bowl game in forever remember) and can be seen with a whirlwind driving trip fairly easily in this case.
Yes, a very real and important side benefit to the Bearcats taking 10,000 fans to the PapaJohn's Bowl would be making a statement to future bowl committees so that this is considered when the Bearcats are up to bat (as they will be) in coming years. Per South Florida fans, they probably had about 6,000 fans at the PapaJohn's game last season. The drive is only 7.5 hours from Cincy, so I say 10,000 is the goal for this one.
Maybe the entire family can't make it or something due to the timing, so grab a buddy and make the trip at least. I will be around my family plenty during the holidays as usual, so my wife isn't going to miss me for a couple days over that weekend. Look at how much time many of us spend on message boards talking about Bearcat sports because it is a passion/hobby, then it is worth a little effort and money to enjoy a great Bearcat team playing and have a big impact on Bearcat BCS football that can't be done just posting on a message board.
