What kind of a Mickey Mouse operation do we have with our radio broadcast? First we have had several games where the audio did not work. Now WIT SEVEN SECONDS TO GO they cut to the VF Weight Loss commercial. We did not even hear what happened when Vaden went to the line.

Who is responsible for this? This should not happen and it happens WAY TOO much with our broadcasts.
Unbelievable! UAB needs to change radio stations right now!
I pretty much wanted to kill the radio...who do we complain to???
Of all the times to F up...they pick when Vaden's at the line trying to ice it! I was seriously afraid that the station had just cut off at 9:30, like they used to do with football broadcasts. I was just thankful that the broadcast resumed. 03-melodramatic
These problems are ultimately UAB's and ISP's fault. ISP's for not monitoring what the hell is going on (can we say no post-game coaches shows for most of the football season?), and UAB's for signing a contract with a half-assed production unit in the first place.

Between ISP and CSTV, UAB has pretty much guaranteed that the devoted fan can't listen to or watch the games. What a great way to grow the fan base -- ensure you can't see or hear the product.
I'm guessing that they were short on commercials and had to get the last one in before the end of the game. Gotta keep the advertisers happy.
I have already written Sam and Brian.
I called Jon Gentile (the radio engineer with ISP) before the commercial was even over telling him what happened and that they need to get this crap fixed now.
I almost had a stroke in the car when they cut to commercial with Vaden at the line. At least they came back before the game was over, but that's not exactly a strong endorsement.
It's not ISP or UAB, it's 107.7. Heard it from the horse's mouth.

It's past time to get rid of 107.7 FM. They have been pathetic.

Amen
That really made me angry too. I can understand the whole deal with advertisers, but just because you don't get in as many as you want doesn't mean you can just throw a commercial in whenever you want... particularly when it's a crucial part in the game. Shows how much 107.7 must really care about UAB athletics that they think nobody would notice or mind that commercial. I don't know how many times I heard that dang phone number... 5? 6 times maybe?
Cart before the horse, I'd say. And, horse without a bridle.
I wouldn't be calling for the radio station's head until we hear a straight, honest answer as to who's issue it is... I haven't heard anything yet that tells me who's to blame?

I thought we'd have learned our lesson when we complained about the time gates were opened to fans. We all thought it was Legion Field's issue, but turns out it was UAB who put the time in the contract (I understand that there is greater cost involved opening gates earlier, but the diehard tailgaters want equitable time compared to other events at LF).
I agree and that is why I emailed the people at UAB who should be able to get to the bottom of the "Case of the Vaden Weight Loss Commercial."
Ultimately, the problems reside with UAB and ISP for failing to monitor what is happening (someone should be listening to the damn broadcast on the radio station, as well as monitoring the CSTV broadcasts, so they can know what's going on, instead of waiting for one of us to complain).

The fact of the matter is, UAB has NEVER put much pride or effort into making UAB athletics accessible. Period. Until that changes, we will continue to have attendance threads, radio threads, and pissed off fans.

We will also continue to appear second rate.

He did lose a lot of weight over the summer. Maybe they thought it was appropriate at the time.

You NAILED it.

Whatever problems there are with CSTV are ultimate UAB's problems and responsibility. It is easy to pass the buck and say, "that sorry CSTV" but UAB and C-USA are the entities accepting the money from CSTV to rights and it is UAB's/C-USA's responsibility then to ensure that CSTV is delivering the UAB product to the consumers who make those payments possible. I find it interesting that UAB seems to have these recurring problems but when I choose to listen to or watch most of the countless other schools I rarely encounter problems. Hmmmmmmm....

And some of these problems have been recurring since 2005 yet the response you would have gotten from UAB admins until last week would have been, "huh?"

CSTV is not the only problem. There are local radio issues, too.

It should be incumbent upon UAB admin to follow up and make sure the issues are rectified to the satisfaction of the customers. It should be incumbent upon the UAB admin stop making people interested in the product jump through 10 hoops to experience it.
