I went to the Marshall game instead of the OU game, attendance was nearly 27,000 in Huntington. The terds averaged over 30,000 per game this season.

What is OU going to do when Marshall draws more fans than poor little Peden's seating capacity and is about 55 miles from beautiful Athens? Sad day for my Bobcats!

OU is not 55 miles from Huntington, you should try looking at a map.

Athens to Gallipolis 48 miles
Gallipolis to Huntington 38 miles
Athens to Huntington 86 miles

CUSA known worldwide for its outstanding attendance had some funny numbers this week too.

Memphis 20,184
Southern Miss. 17,740
Houston 12,139
Rice 11,742

Now I would suspect the lower numbers at Memphis and Southern Miss had to do with colder temperatures then what that part of the country normally experiences for college football season.

Cold weather is what the MAC has to deal with from mid-October on and it impacts attendance numbers. Most MAC and non-BCS fans are casual and not going to brave the cold weather.

Perhaps he didn't know because he went to the MARSHALL game instead of "HIS BOBCATS" game. Flat Tire 2 --> 04-chairshot <-- MAC fans
Shopping with women also comes into play this time of year. Some fans are "kidnapped" and couldn't get way to the game. Smart ones lure the women into the local bar to catch the scores and to quench the thirst of a day of shopping with beer. Nervous fans scan the bottom ticker for the most important score of the year. When the score is given, he smiles and downs the beer for his team was victorious.
The only reason Marshall reported 26k and change was they sold a ton of season tickets this year with WVU at home.

Herd fans on the CUSA board are saying the actual crowd in Huntington was at most 18k (probably 15k).

One poster said he thought Rice had 2,000 actual 04-jawdrop

Ohio listed 11,500. Watching the game I thought it was closer to 15,000. Ohio does not list complementary tickets in the numbers and OU gave away a lot of them for this game so actual numbers were more like 13-14k.

If you consider Athens has a population of 3,000 on Thanksgiving Saturday while Huntington has a pop of 300,000 relatively we have better numbers.
There is no way we had 15,000 today.
OZoner Wrote:There is no way we had 15,000 today.

I know I've seen crowds look that big in the past called 15,000.

They showed the home side, it looked pretty full from TV.
Unless you are in a power conference, don't expect big numbers on Thanksgiving weekend.

Camera tricks, then. I was there... that stadium was quite barren. Not many people on the Miami side.

You mean the endzone right? That is where the Miami section is.

Miami brought a lot more fans to Peden in 2003 when they had Big Ben.
No, I meant the side of the stadium behind Miami's bench.
Okie Chippewa Wrote:Unless you are in a power conference, don't expect big numbers on Thanksgiving weekend.

I agree. The Saturday after Thanksgiving has always been very poorly attended. Students are all out of town, the weather's usually cold and miserable, no post-season implications on the line, and the community in general has their minds focused on other things (shopping, family events, decorating the house, etc.). It's a bad, bad day to expect any sort of big crowd.
OZoner Wrote:No, I meant the side of the stadium behind Miami's bench.

Wait.

Miami's bench was moved to the "home" side of Peden Stadium prior to this year so the coaches could read the numbers.

The home side is the side I watched from TV and it looked pretty good, the opposite student side not so much.
