Full Version: With all the Idaho talk...is Boise gonna play in the dome?

I don't know a whole lot about Idaho and Boise State's history, but I understand that Idaho has played on the Blue Turf for a number of years now without a return game (similar to WSU, but I get the "its a privilege if you want to play a Pac-10 team plus its a "home" game for you every other year). 05-mafia

With the Vandals inclusion in the WAC, are the Broncs gonna play Idaho in the dome this year? I haven't heard anything about this subject, but I though for sure that Boise would work some deal out to play in Pullman in order to maximize the number of people who could attend the game (a la OU/Texas). But maybe that would be weird to have the in-state rivalry played out of state...

Is something like this being discussed, or is it a non-negotiable issue? (IE its a conference game to be played on the team's true "home" turf)
The series has been home and home everyother year except with UI entering the WAC the schedule put them in Boise two (only two) years in a row. BSU's last game on the Palouse was in the 'Dome. The one before was at WSU. But UI seems not inclined to use Martin Stadium. They feel the 'Dome is a big HF advantage and, although it's never been published, I suspect by the time they paid for Martin, the bottom line was not much better than playing in Moscow inspite of increased attendance in Pullman.
The dome is plenty big, no southern Idaho fans go north for the games.
The Bronco marching band won't go, hasn't for years. We get treated
by the Vandal fans like the fresno fans treat there guests. So we don't
go to Moscow.

GO BRONCOS GO WAC

GO BRONCOS GO WAC

Fresno treats BSU fans a lot better than the vanduls.

BobWilson is right here - we've played in Boise two years in a row, but only due to our admission to the WAC. Our last OOC game with BSU was an away game, and the way the WAC schedule broke down, our first conference game was an away game. The Broncos will be in Moscow next year.

The current Idaho athletic administration seems to feel that the Kibbie Dome is our best home field, and we won't play in Martin Stadium. I'm sure our attendance dive with the recent losing seasons is a factor here. In 2001 (start of the big slide), we had 25,000 in Martin Stadium for the BSU game, and it was a good time. Maybe in the future it'll return to WSU's place - but I would prefer we draw strong crowds in our own new, outdoor stadium, and sooner rather than later.

We'll see if that's true if Erickson is hired. Something tells me that that name might mean something for our ticket sales in the season ahead.

Not entirely true - there's usually a section (~1,000) of BSU fans at the dome games. For those WAC fans unfamiliar with the state of Idaho, Boise to Moscow is not an easy drive - distance (or, more accurately, slow roads) keep a lot of the BSU crowd from coming up to Moscow. Some diehards make it, though. On average, I would guess that UI representation is slightly higher at games in Boise due to our alumni base in southern Idaho.

Which is unfortunate - I'd like to see the rivalry take a friendlier tone. But it goes both ways - plenty of jerks on each side.
