Thanks for compiling those.

WMU currently leads the non-NFL stadium attendance race.
Kent State needs at least 32,691 in attendance at their last home game to finish with a 15,000 attendance average. Most likely that will not happen and they will become the 4th MAC team to finish below the 15,000 attendance average.

Bowling Green needs at least 13,526 in attendance at their last home game to finish with a 15,000 attendance average. Anything less and they will finish below the 15,000 attendance average.

Akron needs at least 8,796 in attendance at their last home game to finish with a 15,000 attendance average. Anything less and they will finish below the 15,000 attendance average.

Ohio needs at least 2,433 in attendance at their last home game to finish with a 15,000 attendance average. Anything less and they will finish below the 15,000 attendance average.

If no one showed up to either NIU's or WMU's last home game both would finish above the 15,000 attendance average.
KSU doesn't need to fulfill any attendance average this season. A team only needs to do that once every 3 seasons and KSU avg. 17K+ last season; and, more importantly, there aren't any meaningful sanctions anyway that have been imposed on anyone, as much as people here like to get all a-twitter at the prospects of such.
Besides, we'll have 33,000 easily Saturday with our game vs. Buffalo: students home for the holiday, two powerhouse MAC also-rans, no OSU game to draw dozens of fans away--what's not to like about this game?
axeme...I drove by the stadium the other day and there was already a long line of fans camping out to buy tickets. I'm guessing 40,000+...lots of standing room only tickets.
Someone on the Buffalo board said they have over 100 busses of fans making the trip. I hope they have tickets. The Summit St. Scalpers are going to be asking for up to $250 for sideline seats, double that for between the 30's.
Hate to 05-deadhorse or sound like a broken record but every couple of months the 15k misinformation reappears, so once again I would suggest reading this old piece from MRO that was published 11-1-06:

Thanks, Dave.

BTW, I assume EMU will need to hit 15K paid in '08.

Correct?

Good reason to have CMU vs. EMU @ Ford Field and 25K tixs sold next October. 03-idea

I heard a tent city called "Martinville" was put up today to accomodate the student demand. Extra light standards were trucked in last night as well as an addition to the endzone bleacher sections. ESPN trucks were parked outside Dix setting up for the primetime showdown. I saw some zips fans scalping for tickets. What a scene !!!04-jawdrop

Thanks. That's what I was referring to when I wrote that we needed to hit the mark only once every three seasons. We hit it last year, not this year, but we didn't need to since last year cleared us on the 2-year rolling thingy (unless the Buffalo scenario above pans out!04-rock) and if we don't hit it next year, we would then have to hit it again in 2009. Effectively, you need to make it once every 3 seasons and twice in four.

All i brought up is that is that four teams will finish below the 15k mark. I said nothing more than that.
Having BC at home to open the season as well as hosting the Zippers should help the attendance.
We're currently set up to have our best attendance in the even years. In the MAC, if you don't have a name OOC opp coming in, or a rival game at home, you are in trouble. Only chance is to be battling for a championship, but that's only a handful of teams every year. Nobody really wants to see average and below MAC teams--not even their own fans.
Using a straight average, the MAC is averaging just less then 17K per game as a conference, which is on the higher end for us, but not by much. Considering how so many of the traditional MAC powers struggled this year (Toledo & Western), I'm surprised we have done as well as we have since most of those schools do a little better than they did this year. Temple & NIU came through with some big home games though.

Dave, why is EMU still keeping their numbers so low? Some of those games in the 10-12K range should have been in the 17K range - I've been told. Any thoughts? Do you need Dave Diles to come back and count tickets?
I love the fact that our game with Miami has been scheduled the past few years on the last day of the season, like a true rivalry game should. But, it's just too bad that this year it falls two days after Thanksgiving when the students are all gone. Not even the 110 will be there. it's unfortunate but it happens. the date is really going to negatively affect our attendance, i'm afraid.

In fact, I saw them lined up down 261 to 43, then I-76 all the way to Lodi!

Looks like it's going to be a good crowd!

For some reason the athletic dept at EMU made the decision this year to strictly count paid attendance. No freebies of any kind were counted in the attendance total.

Every home game we have been stunned by the UNDER reporting of the attendance which has been significant.

For instance against Howard, the home side of the stands were absolutely full which means at least 15k were there but only 10k was reported.

I think this is still a fallout from the Diles era and EMU being under the microscope for attendance counting.
I think everyone else is counting tickets sold plus students in attendance, as I think it should be.
