Miami took care of business last night, but I sure don't feel comfortable about them the rest of the way even though they are looking good right now for a bowl game.
quote:

"We chatted with Motor City Bowl officials and worked out that the most likely scenario that will land Michigan State in the Motor City Bowl would include Ohio State defeating Michigan and taking the Big Ten's BCS slot in the Rose Bowl, coupled with a Michigan State victory over Penn State. "

that is correct.

Folks usually forget that Iowa is a W over WMU of being 7 - 5.

IF OSU beats UofM and Iowa beats WMU (bet the family farm on that game), then the BT gets 7 bowl bids and 7 teams with 7 or more wins.

Any 6 - 6 team would not be in a Big Ten affiliated bowl as the MCB would be obligated to select a 7 - 5 BT team over a 6 - 6 MSU team.

However, a 7 - 5 MSU (with a win over PSU) would be eligible for the MCB or other BT bowls.

?: Who do the other bowls select: MSU, Iowa, Pudue...
IF technally, GMAC has 1st pick. Why would they take 7-6 Mia over 9 win CM & 8 win BG. I would think Ball St might intrest bowls with Letterman talking about game. I see CM in GMAC, BG in Motor city, & Ball st in internatinal.

If Miami is 7-6, they get a bowl over BG or BSU. The two division winners are guaranteed a bowl as long as they're eligible.

There is a very friendly working arrangement between the GMAC and MCB (and IB too) that works to ensure that the bowls not only get the best matchups from a record standpoint but also geographically. Trust me, CMU will be playing in the MCB.

Mike Spicer is also correct in that the two division winners are guaranteed a bowl IF they are bowl eligible.
I tought only winner of championship was guarantee bowl bid
Here it is simple terms for the 2007 MAC bowl teams:

Central to the MCB
Miami to the GMAC
BG or Ball St to Toronto

Doesn't look like we get a 4th team into the mix with a strong chance that there will be 11 Bowl eligible teams from the SEC and possibly ten from the Big Eleven.

Possible bowl match ups are:
Central vs. either Purdue, Indiana or MSU
Miami vs. UCF
BG or Ball St vs either Rutgers, Pitt, USF or Cincy

Not bad match-ups

Starting with last season the winners of both divisions were guaranteed bowl invites as long as they are bowl eligible.
