Just figured it had to be said.

It was an offensive race and you could tell watching the first half that it was only a matter of time before our offense would buckle.

A power running game like ours doesn't work when you are trying to keep pace with a potent pass attack like theirs. And a poor defense amplifies the situation.

I must say though, after a dissappointing season, the first quarter felt great to watch. Reminded me of the good old days of watching Chester Taylor trample the competition.

I hope we can beat BGSU, but i think the game will go about the same as this one. I wouldn't be surprised to see the same exact score.
Defense has not gotten the job done all season long. The Rockets have been at the bottom of the defensive stats for the MAC/nationally. Letting Clancy run for amost 8.0 yds per carry was ridiculous.Changes need to made.
Offense disappeared after the first quarter. Some of it was
the holding penalties and some of it was questionable play calling-got away from what originally put points on the board for the Rockets.
Ball State was #109 against the run going into the game. The Rockets should have been all over that.UT had the opportunity to take command of the game early and let Ball State get back into it.The Cards scored off the two ints.
The fake FG formation-Rockets let the Ball State Defense adjust. It happened too slow.Plus when was the last time UT was able to make a two point conversion-a problem all season long.
Now that the season is almost over the Rockets need to get some help defensively and offensively upfront,a big TE,and big pounding back 220-250 range.Need some more studs. It will be very interesting
to see what happens with recruiting.Rockets are about 5 or 6 players from being very good.

Unless all of those 6 play on the defense, I don't think we're that good. The talent is not there on this defense minus a Barry Church, Lester Richmond, and a few of the young DE's. We have a long way to go.

Well, we do have 6 guys out for the season with injuries that were pencilled in as starters on defense at the beginning of the season. Those 6 include three all-mac seniors. I really believe those 6 would have made a HUGE difference this year.

Losing Williamson and Westbrook definitely hurt on the
outside.Morris and Herbert would have made a big difference in coverage all season long.Kilgo and Gewont missing certainly effected OL play ,particularly on the right side.
Don't forget Desmond Marrow at cornerback. He was pencilled in ahead of Atkins before he got hurt.

Another one that hurt was losing LB Archie Donald. He became a starter around the 3rd or 4th game last season and played very well. He was allowed to practice this year, but not eligible to play in games. He will be considered a 3rd year sophomore next season.
