Full Version: Better do it this year...if you can

Notice to the rest of the W.A.C. teams who have not yet played Boise State. If you are going to end Boise State's string of consecutive wins against Western Athletic Conference teams (currently at 29 straight wins) then you had better get it done THIS year. The reason I say that is because there is virtually no chance of doing it next season (2006).

Next season Boise State returns nearly all of their starters on both offense and defense. Boise State will lose two starters on each side of the ball (DT Alex Guerrero and LB Chris Barrios on defense and OT Daryn Colledge and RB Lee Marks on offense). And Lee Marks is one of those two Senior starters on offense and Marks is being outperformed by Freshman running back Ian Johnson.

Check out all of the experience that will return next season for Boise State in 2006:

Secondly Boise State gets to play Fresno State, Hawaii, Louisiana Tech and Utah State at home on the Blue Turf in 2006. So if any of the rest of the W.A.C. teams plan on ending Boise State's run of consecutive wins they had better get it done this season. :D
We'll do our best. The Joe has been a very difficult place to play this year. I'm looking forward to this game quite a bit.

Go Dawgs...beat Boise...and Go Boise, be undefeated when you come to Ruston!!!!!!!!
I believe Fresno and Hawaii return a huge number of starters next year as well. Isn't LaTech young as well? I'm expecting bigger things for WAC football in the next few years.
Nevada brings the majority of their starters back as well.. 60% of the team is made up of freshman and sophomores..

Good post!

I think Boise St's best shot of it being "their year" is next year. Fresno St's shot of it being "their year" is this year. Fresno St loses Paul Pinegar and I can't see how they'll reload as quickly. Utah St returns a lot of starters, but I think "Utah St's year" will be in 2007.

Let's look at it this way:
Paul Pinegar is a senior in 2005
Jared Zabransky is a senior in 2006 (among others)
Leon Jackson is a senior in 2007 (among others)

We're pretty young on offense. Our linebacking corp is composed of 3 seniors though. I think Tech will be tough next year. The exciting this is the fact that our true skill position players are very young (for the most part). In 2 years, I think you'll see the Tech offense back to it's top 10 in the nation form.
We are going to have to improve our QB play significantly in order to get our offense back to this level. Maybe Champion can start us in that direction next year.
You're right. I'm hoping that Zac Champion or Michael Mosely can be the next Tech QB to be a big difference maker. Imagine Tim Rattay's team with Ryan Moats...I'm not saying that we have another Moats or Rattay, but Patrick Jackson is gonna be real good before the end of things. If one of these QB's can step up, Tech will have an offense that's both potent and balanced.
Next year is next year.

This year Boise St will lose to both Fresno St and Louisiana Tech.

Right, and we know that from Fresno's glorious victories. The dogs are soon to get trampled. Again.
I think a lot of the teams in the WAC will be returning huge parts of their teams next year except maybe Fresno. I think overall next year the teams will be better because of that night. Ault here is always recruiting the young guys so there is not a huge turnover. However unless I read the information wrong I think Nevada returns more than 60% of their team for next year.

I may be wrong but I thought Fresno only lost 4 or 5 starters for next year as well. The big thing will be losing PP.

The conference as a whole should be much improved next year.
Well then we should bow down again this year to BSU because of "history".

C'mon we return just as much next year on our team so don't assume things.

Personally I rather see BSU start winning their BCS games and Fresno State winning Wac Championships.

One BSU loss to the Dogs down, another BSU loss to the Dawgs to go.

I wouldn't count on that. The whole team should have a pretty good grouch on by the time they go to Ruston.

If we wear orange pants at LaTech I am going to sneak into the football offices, steal those things and burn them down by the river. I fear we'll lose for sure.
