The Basketball preseason polls have just arived and the MAC's own Akron is recieving two votes in the AP, the only MAC team to do so. No such luck in the Coaches poll, though. Akron has a relatively easy schedule early on, and winning the tournament in Alaska to start the season would help greatly. It's hard to break into the polls, very hard. Having a few votes already helps build recognition among the voters and makes getting more votes significantly easier, provided that the team keeps winning.

Akron is currently ranked #51.

PS: where can you find out who voted for which team? I want to know who it was.

Akron get two votes for the top 25 in the nation in basketball is hillarious. Akron lost Joyce and Travis. You don't lose players of that caliber and become a top 25 team. I would have Western Michigan or Kent State as my preseason picks. Those teams look loaded to me. Miami, Akron, Toledo, Central Michigan and Ohio are the darkhorse contenders the MAC, but nobody is trotting out a top 50 team let alone a top 25 team in the MAC this year. Akron's rpi won't be top 100 unless South Carolina upstate and NC Central become the second coming of Duke and North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
