As US dollar reaches historic lows against Euro, Yen and other world currencies (thanks Dumbya!) there are still opportunities to make good money. Strong foreign currencies make solid American companies prospects for takeovers-boosting their stock. Look for companies with strong positions in growth markets and good fundamentals-you can bet the Europeans, Chinese and Japanese are looking at them as well!
Right now I've got 40% of my portfolio in overseas equities. Good time to Hold those, but not buy anymore. Capital seeks it's own level and it wants to come back to America in some way, shape or form. Look for overseas folks to take advantage of their wealth and start buying up fixed assets in the US.
BroncoPhilly advises in the short term to acquire Chinese and Indian bonds-they're trying to stifle inflation before it starts and offering attractive Yields-as a hedge against further dollar depreciation. Then, as the dollar continues it's further slide it'll be an opportune time to start dollar-cost-averaging purchases of US equity funds. Probably be a good idea to START moving your money into these equity funds in the next 4-6 months.
There is going to be a SIGNIFICANT correction during the interim-it's already started. The Big Players are pulling their money out of dollar denominated equities until the dust settles. We lost 400 points on the Dow yesterday. Probably lose another 1000-1500 before it's over.
Buy those Pacific-Rim and Indian Bonds, folks! There are two kinds of investors-those that make it happen and those that wonder what happened!
