Quote:May 23rd, 2007- Bryan Hall Journal #1Bryan Hall of Whitney Young, a top 08 prospect and one of the top defenders in the state has dropped his first journal for illinoishsbasketball.com...
Whats up everybody, it's Bryan Hall of WhitneyYoung. I play for Ferrari AAU for the spring and summer. So far we have been playing good basketball. We recently finished in the sweet sixteen in the gold division at spiece. I am one of the three point guard/ como guards that start for our team. The other two are AJ Rompza and Isiah Williams. Our team also includes Stan Brown, Carl Richard, Byron Woods, and others. As of now I have about five schools that are recruiting me the hardest. This list includes, Minnesota, Toledo, Western Michigan, Eastern Illinois, and Loyola. I have been talking to theses coaches and am scheduling visits right now. New schools that have began to send mail and invite me to their camps are Colgate, Virginia Tech, Illinois State, Columbia and Holy Cross. Look out for more Journals in the future from Bryan Hall...

I'm not saying we are in on jordan, but maybe there is another kid we like out of that school too?
Zao123 Wrote:chicagohoops has him ranked 44th
now you don't need Colvin as you will have 6 deep at the guard postion the next two years what you need is a 3 to back up Storm because Ervin and Gaters Suck and can't play at this level you also need a dominate 4 or 5 because right now you only have Kwoel and Kelley and maybe walker in 2009.
Quote:Illinois Prep Bulls-eye has learned through most reliable sources that Brian Hall, a 6'1 point guard from Whitney Young High School in Chicago, has verbally committed to Northern Illinois University. Hall's commitment actually became official late last night.
Playing on a high school team which is absolutely loaded with D1 talent, it is easy for Hall to go unnoticed. However, Hall turned in solid performances at several prominent events during the July evaluation period, most notably the NIKE Peach Jam in North Augusta, SC. In doing so, he confirmed in our minds that he is undoubtedly a D1 prospect.
Hall has proven to us that he can definitely play the point at both the high school and college levels. He is a team player first and foremost and simply does a lot of the little things that aren't going to show up in a box score. We think that defense is his greatest attribute, although as the summer progressed Hall also showed us that he has good ball handling skills, can consistently get to the basket and most importantly possesses the leadership traits that are necessary of a D1 point guard.
Hall becomes Huskie head coach Ricardo Patton's third commitment from the class of 2008, as he will join forces with 5'11 Mike Dinunno from Von Steuben High School in Chicago and 6'6 Tyler Storm from Geneseo High School in Geneseo, IL. In fact, Hall and Dinunno could prove to be the back court of the future for Northern Illinois, because although they may be on the small side, their styles provide the perfect compliment to one another.
Once again a ton of credit must also go to Northern Illinois assistant coach Dennis Gates on helping to secure Hall's commitment. Gates is an alum of Whitney Young High School (having played on their 1998 state championship team) and as we have mentioned numerous times, has strong connections throughout Chicago and the Public League.
Quote:The final player who is vastly underrated is Whitney Young's Bryan Hall, an attacking guard who flourishes in transition and just needs to tighten up his jump shot. He's a terrific kid and student and is without question a Division I talent.
wolfpackdad Wrote:You've got yourself a nice player in Hall. The times I've seen him play he was Very strong defensively. Very pestky and gets a lot of steals. Able to play full court in your face defense against the point and strong enough to play tough against the two.
Offensively, very smart in his shot selection. Solid mid range game and able to hit the three. Can finish off the drive and break with the best of them. A solid all around player. This is how he starts around all the talent at Young. One of the least talked about guards at Young, though one of the best I think and my favorite. A solid pick for NIU.
Zao123 Wrote:I base my opionion on Ervin and gaters that i have seen both players play.
Gaters in the game i saw didn't have a shot he just got rebounds and put them back he can't really do that as he is undersized. now i know that he had a year to get better and i hope he does.
Ervin i saw last year verse Highland he started and went 0-4 3 rebounds vs Highland. he was the 4th best player on kankakee team and i could name 20 better players that went d2 from area juco better than ervin One of them was Jeremiah Box from Sauk Valley he same height and he can shoot. Oh yeah he went to the D2 Quincy.
Also another negitive thing about signing Ervin is that the coaches at NIU already Ticketed off the coaches at Highland belive me Juco's like to brag about who went where. And Coach Norman know's that Ervin dosn't belong at NIU.

November 1, 2007
Young senior guard Bryan Hall gave an oral commitment Wednesday to Northern Illinois.
Hall is the second Public League player in the Class of 2008 to commit to NIU, following Von Steuben guard Mike Dinunno. Simeon junior Steve Walker also committed to the Huskies during the summer.
Hall chose NIU over Eastern Illinois, IUPUI-Fort Wayne and Drake.
''I've heard a lot of good things about [NIU coach Ricardo Patton],'' Hall said. ''When I met him, I got a good feeling about him and the whole program. It's also a place that could give me a chance to play right away.''
