MAC leads the mid major charge with an impressive 5 teams in the top 25, MVC also tied with the MAC with 5. Quite impressive for the MAC to get 5, although could spell some hard times ahead for NIU in this conference this year.

CMU?? Really? Pardon my apparent ignorance but are they supposed to be good this year? I had them penciled in as 2 wins this year.

Actually I forgot, 3 votes CMU did have in the MAC preseason poll to win the West. Should be a really competitive division outside of Ball St. and maybe (hope not) us.

That would make sense. Maybe they know something we don't.
It seems that the MAC guys on the main board think that CMU will have a pretty good team. I actually have been pulling a MD02 and have been picking NIU 3rd in the West.
I see Illinois State got some votes, anyone know what kind of team they have right now?

They won't be very good. Most major college hoops mags have them finishing 2nd to last. Middle of the pack at best.. this site is losing credibility from me with some of the teams in this poll.

They had a huge turnaround last season. Their coach, who came from UCLA, has stocked their team with some really good talent. They've gotten two really good recruiting classes and even got a really good transfer from Purdue (Nate Minnoy) who is eligible this season.
