...apparently, officials are to T up any profanity AT ALL by a coach in the bench area...and their willingness to do this will affect their post season assignments, such as working march madness...from our good friends at the NCAA

Heck...will he last until the first TV timeout?

Well he has a lot of games on National TV as usual so we are going to find out aren't we. Don
Deja Vu?
Deja Vu???
does Huggs know foreign languages? That would probably work!
Huggins has an advantage at home considering it is part of the West Virginia vernacular. 03-lmfao
If he has to internalize the cussing, his blood pressure is going to go through the roof.
Is ANY coach going to last a whole game?

I like that place. Nice girls there.
I still remember one of his first 'big games' on ESPN. It was when Herb Jones was a senior. We were beating up on UMass pretty good, at UMass. Then in the last 5-10 minutes of the game UMass makes a run. With less then 2 minutes or so in the game our around 20 point lead is down to around 4 or 5 (why did this happen so often with Huggs? many times we would be up 20+ points in the first half, and then lose). Herb gets the inbounds pass after UMass makes a basket. They press him and he turns it over and they score. He gets the inbounds pass again, they press him again, and he just barely gets a timeout before turning the ball over. The team walks to Huggs for the timeout, and the ESPN camera is right in the huddle. As soon as Herb is within 6 feet, with the camera directly on Huggs, you hear and see him say "will you just hold on to the f**king ball!" Cut to no sound. Classic Huggs.

Then at the next UC timeout they have a camera angle from Huggs back with audio from the commentary crew instead of the huddle.

God that was so funny I about hurt myself.

Huggs didn't have a reputation at that point. And I remember my 70 yr old aunt watching it with us, and she just shook her head like "what's the deal with that nut?"
Good freakin' times, those were..... :drunk2:

Damn am I getting old.... 03-old:

Given the same situation, I think I probably would have said the same thing that Huggs did. :cursin: 02-13-banana

Amen. Mick's got a mouth on him too. Coaches are gonna slip up, this rule is all kinds of stupid.

Hmmmm. That's what I remember. But hey, it made for a great win in the Alaskan Shootout versus Duke (even though we were killing them and allowed them to come roaring back so we could win in incredible fashion!).
In the Alaskan Shootout, Duke had THREE future National Players of the Year -- Langdon, Battier, and Brand. We had one -- K-Mart. Cut Huggs some slack -- he and the players beat one of the most talented teams in the history of basketball.

BTW, that is the ONLY game in the history of the NCAA to have four DIFFERENT National POY's on the court at the same time. Of all of the coaches who ever coached in the NCAA, Huggs is the ONLY one who can say that he won one of the most historic games EVER!

I think you two have very selective memories when it comes to this. These things happen all the time and UC under Huggs was on both ends of successful and unsuccessful comebacks. Expect more in the future regardless of the coach.

Jimmy V was the color guy on that telecast. Too bad he went early. He was pretty good at what he did on TV.
Yeah it is called momentum. It happens in sports all the time. Without it the Bearcats would have lost the Rutgers game. Bengals would have lost this past weekend...Come on, this is dumb.
