About where I expected us to be.
Thats fine. I mean to an extent thats fine. My goal is to compete for NIT and make big east tourney. Top 12 make it so this is fine.
I looked through scheudle and if we win every game that we should we should go 14-15. However sports are not like that so we will loose games we shouldnt and win games we shouldnt. Either way I think it'll all balance out and a 15-14, 16-13 season sohuld be considered a success.

makes me sick that uc bball has fallen so far that peoples' goals consist of not going to-but only competing for the nit? and going at or below .500 is a success?

blah. expected? yea. so what. it still sucks. shouldn't be like this.
The program isn't going to be rebuilt over night. Next year people will be expecting NCAA, you can't do that this year, however.
it does suck i agree. But realistic expectations are NIT.
mlb hit it on the head. Without blaming anyone or going into who did what, when Mick accepted the job, for all intents and purposes, he had to start over from scratch. We will not get there overnight.

I said 12th weeks ago on here but that's an if right now. Something to root for anyway. We will get up and compete with the rest of the bottom feeders and not just be bottom like last year. Don
'My goal is to compete for NIT'

That's the Catitude we need around here - a winning one!

Go Cats!

Beat Seton Hall - Beat St Johns - Beat Rutgers - Beat USF.

We are not the doormat -

Look out Wofford - we have a score to settle.

I'm in - who's going to follow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr Happy

12th, with a chance of finishing closer to 8th if things progress well.

After reading that I felt like doing an ALT+F4 so it would just go AWAY.
I think 12th is about right.....especially after losing big Mike....

It's just going to take time Bearcat faithful.......but kids coming in like Yancy Gates, etc. will make a difference. Mick is a GREAT coach and recruiter....let's give him a couple more years (including this one) or so and then I think you'll see UC back to Top 25...

hey, it's not great but I remember when Huggs was canned people were thinking we'd be 10 years out on a good program again...it's going to happen a lot faster than that. IMO
Looking at the schedule, they could finish anywhere from 8th to 15th. Last year we knew we were going to finish in the basement. Not sure yet what this box o' chocolates holds in store for us.
bump

here is what we thought at this time last year.

Yep. But people also need to have some perspective and keep in mind just how many years has it been since UC had the type of talent, depth, and size to challenge for the top of what is the best conference in the nation? Not only was the work order a complete rebuild, but it has to almost be rebuilt better than it ever was before.
Brent...different year and you are playing the same old song...IU needs some supporters..oh that's right they are worse off than we are..

Don't know if you realize it, but Brent posted that last year. This was just brought back by SeniorBearcat.

We want to keep getting better every year. So far so good. Probably not as fast as many fans (myself included) would like it, but considering the state of the program a couple of years ago- I'll take it.

This is an important year because the pieces are starting to click into place. I still think we will hear some excuses and coach-speak from Cronin if they falter: "Guys are inexperienced, yadda yadda yadda..." But I think the team needs to create some upsets this year, needs to take care of business and dominate the cream puffs (Most importantly, IMO), and generate some national interest/get into the conversation about the NCAA tournament (which about half-way through the Big East schedule last year- the team was doing just that amazingly enough).

This team needs to exceed national expectations and at the very minimum get to the NIT. Anything else is going to be a failure and make it that much harder to get UC back to where it used to be on the map.
We'll be back in the Big Dance this year. I can't see us in the NIT we have too much talent. Mick did a hell of a job beating teams more talented than us last year with that roster, and I think he'll be able to do a lot more with this roster this year.
I do think next year is the year for the Cats since the youngsters will have experience, but I think we will sneak up on teams early on and towards the end of the season, we should have experience. I do think we finish in the top 8 and get an NCAA invite. But Mick still gets a pass this year. Next year, maybe not so much.
I think the Bearcats will have a big man or two that will be able to either make a layup or dunk the ball when they are near the basket, so that's a big step in the right direction.
