I think the Temple fans on here deserve and apology. We belong in the MAC and are playing very well this year. Go MAC GO.
This post is a pretty sad indication of your stand-offish attitude.

I'll try and explain this (again): Most intelligent people could see Temple was not going to stay in the dumps forever. They can be a quality program. However, adding Temple was questionable in the long-term interests of the conference. This is because Temple does not appear to have any interest in staying in the conference, they are only members in one sports, and it's thrown everything completely out of whack. The MAC does not seem to be getting a whole lot out of this arrangement. And considering the dire straits Temple was in, the MAC really could have demanded more from Temple.

This is not Temple's fault, and they don't really owe anyone anything. This is on the collective presidents of the member universities and the commissioner.
I actually have to agree with OZoner's post. However, there were a ton of posters here who claimed that Temple would never be able to compete with the MAC. Those people were obviously wrong.
Oh don't get your panties in a ruffle.... Just having a little fun. I forgot how serious you boys are...
I think posters on both sides got off on the wrong foot. MACers upset with the choice to bring Temple in took their frustration out on the unwitting Temple fans. And unfortunately, a fewof the early Owl posters were jerks. That didn't help anything.

However, I see that attitudes both ways are coming around. This is certainly for the better!

I iron my panties.
You do indeed belong in the MAC. Many of us are just as bad as Temple this year. Truly a sad year for the MAC. Buffalo and Temple have a shot to win the East and go to the MACC. God help us all.

Amen!

My take:

1). Most (not including me) didn't want a 13th team and specifically Temple and emotionally fought it all the way. Lot of resistance to a FB only member.

2). Temple fans tried to argue they deserved a shot. That seems to annoy some of the more rabid anti-expansion, anti-Temple fans.

3). I remember the Marshall fans, UCF fans, and now Temple fans. Only the Marshall fans got my dandruff up.

4). I see Temple (and UB's resurgence) as a chance to help broaden the MAC footprint into the East.
5) The Temple fans not only talked smack but already looked to when they improved their situation and thought they were going to be too good for our meager conference and would be off to a bigger one. If you come in and disrupt the balance and then only use us as a stepping stone, then why are they here?

My response to yours.

1.) I thought adding Temple was a good idea. I just thought that it was a bad deal because of no b-ball.

2.)Yes, they did. Very arrogantly but they did.

3.)If I am not mistaken we had a respectful Temple fan show up then shortly after a bunch of arrogant fans showed up telling us they were going to take the MAC over the first year they were an "affiliate member". Then MAC fans started reacting to the Temple BS.

4.) How could they not broaden it? The only place on the east coast that has heard of the MAC is a building(or several) in Bristol Connecticut. Also, I wouldn't count on either staying at the top very long. Temple will be good assuming their players can pass their classes(which is questionable based on past experience) and it looks like Buffalo will be losing their coach soon. Not to mention, the MAC just flat out SUCKS this year.

:iagree:
Honestly guys lets worry about 4-5 years from now then. We got a lot of football to play together and its not our universities policy to run away from a conference. Its part of the reason we stayed in the A-10 for all sports. I will offer my apology for being "stand-offish" and and keep the non sense to a minimum as long as we remain unprovoked.
Good point. The MAC might not even exist by then!
You're not getting one.

First of all, most of you guys are asshats. From day one you guys talked junk like the 70-7 loss to Bowling Green and the 42-17 loss to Toledo in 2005 didn't happen. And it still continues with the shots at EMU for their attendance issues.

Second, your addition adds nothing to the MAC. At least with UCF, the MAC got exposure in Florida. The MAC already recruits Pennsylvania heavily. I believe UCF would have accepted the full-membership offer if not the opening in C-DOA didn't come along. I don't believe for a second that you'll bring your other sports to the MAC. Not that playing your crappy, overrated basketball team will do anything for the MAC, anyway.

I said it before and I'll say it again: Horrible move. Either you guys were going to go 2-6 every year (and be a complete waste of time) or you were going to do well and make the MAC look really bad. And that's what you've done. The worst program in America the last 15 years has a winning record in the MAC. It makes the MAC look even more like a I-A pretender than it did before.

I agree.

But I'm not going to. I supported bringing you guys in from day one.

For now it looks like you have created a monster. However, a successful Temple program would be the best thing to hit the MAC since Marshall's success. Even better actually, seeing as Golden seems to want to do things the right way unlike Marshall.
temple without basketball should leave the conference... no point what-so-ever for them to be in this conference. I believe they will become a quality program in the years to come... they seem to have worked very hard in getting a solid coaching staff together, who in turn have recruited well... but geographically, Temple doesnt belong in this conference... neither does Buffalo.

No basketball... No love from the MAC fans

I say boot those 2 and bring in Illinois St, Western Ky, or Indiana St

If Buffalo goes, so does NIU unless as you mention the MAC does take ISU at some point.
