"The Sun Belt folks are saying that UNT only can't work. They also say a division with only four central time zone teams can't work.
My hunch is that if UTEP goes that the WAC will offer UNT, ASU, ULL, and one of MTSU, Troy and Idaho to go to 12. The counter-offer will be take all six and go to 14 which creates a 7 team eastern division with 6 central time zone teams meaning only two cross-over games per year in football and only one of those on the road.
If you can figure out how to protect the west in revenue the deal works out wonderfully. Neither the east nor west wishes to play the other and larger divisions reduce the amount of crossover."
