That's where we are having our problems. The past few years NIU has had top 25 offenses, now we have one of the worst offenses in the nation.

It's awesome that NIU's defense is still at the top even though the amount of injuries that have occurred on our defense. We have four freshmen and a sophomore playing on our D-Line, then losing our #1 LB Tim McCarthy early in the season, missing our #1 Safety Spencer Williamson for 5 games this season, and now our #1 CB Melvin Rice is serving a three-game suspension that started with WMU last weekend. All the experience these young players are getting are going to give NIU a bunch of experience on the defensive side of the ball.
=>Looking at the Miami gamenotes and going over the 2 deep for the game against Temple, I noticed the following about how young Miami's starters are at this point:

Offense

3 seniors (2 backups in 2 deep)
5 Juniors (1)
1 Sophomore (2)
2 Frosh (6)

Defense

0 Seniors (2 backups in 2 deep)
4 Juniors (2)
5 Sophomores (2)
2 Frosh (5)

Specialists [PK, P, LS, Holder, KO, PR, KR (2)]

0 Seniors (0 backups in 2 deep)
4 Juniors (1)
0 Sophomores (5)
4 Frosh (0)

Of the starters listed for the Temple game, Miami will graduate only 3 of 30 combined starters [offense (11), defense (11), and specialists (8 )]. Those 3 being LT Charlie Norden, C Steve Meister, and TB Austin Sykes. Unfortunately, those 3 are key cogs in the nice running game Miami has had for the last few weeks.
