Support the team anymore?

It's a bad year. Plain and simple, it's a bad year. After each loss why is there such a huge uproar? We are having a terrible year, and we are going to lose again! It is going to happen people!

So why are we acting so suprised like we have the #1 team in the country out there?

Is it so hard to support the team? And hope that these underdogs(like they will be the rest of the year) mess up someone else's season?

Anyone else just GLAD to be watching D1 Football? I'm glad it's football. Even watching the worst football in the world is better than watching almost every other sport.

I'm just saying, the #1 team in the country didn't just lose to Temple out there.
i understand what your saying..

i think everyone just gets frustrated because its not like every week we are losing 40-7 34-10 etc...we had great chances to win against SIU, EMU, and now Temple. we keep killing ourselves with our own mistakes..i think that hurts more than anything else.

does anyone else get the feeling when watching the mac that it is less and less D1 football? watching big ten/sec/even mountain west..those teams and players are on a totally different level.

i am, however, looking forward to the rest of the year! homecoming next week should be fun (hopefully a W), i will have a great time at the Wisconsin game with my fam/friends just hoping that the huskies can keep it close and suprise a few people, and i believe we could come out of the rest of our game with maybe 2-3 wins! although this week hurts, the future is bright. we will have a new coach next year..joe has done great things but he will retire

Yes. The MAC had a couple good years but has dropped down considerably to Sunbelt levels. The MAC just will never be a consistently strong conference. It is to regional. Too mnay teams recruiting from the same area and that area-while has talent, is not strong enough to support that many teams. We are to far from the talent rich parts of the country-Texas, Florida and California. We don't have a big enough fanbase(as a conference) to draw fans or get lucritive(sp?) ESPN contracts. It is too close to the Big 10/11. Thats why I was hoping we could get out of the MAC. It looks like we may be stuck now. The MAC is fun. The games are competetive. The stadiums are comfortable. But the MAC will NEVER be more than a below average conference most years.

I don't understand this. You can watch D1 football at 119 cities throughout the country and a couple dozen TV channels. All things being equal, why are YOU watching this team?

Because this is my school and my team. What a dumb question.

There's the pot calling the kettle black.

Now shut up and let the person who actually posted it respond.

He summed it up perfectly for me.

It's the school I went to. Every game I sit down ready for a win. Sure we may not win, but every game I cheer like hell for the Huskies. I don't celebrate a loss like some people I know.

I enjoy watching football, I even more enjoy watching NIU. We aren't winning this year, but that's life. You can't win every year forever like some of you expect.

I see talent on this team. I enjoy watching Justin Anderson play as hard as he does. I like watching adamski block like hell even though our tackles or WRs will do something boneheaded to get a play called back.

I just enjoy football. I love NIU. So you do the math ok buddy?

PS: It's something I can take ownership in. The little that I can contribute after graduation does help something i'm sure. I like having a team that represents me. I'm not going to quit cheering for them because they do poorly. I'm not going to be a FAKE notre Dame fan. I didn't go there, they can go to hell. In fact I don't care for any other school because they don't have anything to do with me. Do I live in Ohio or something where I can pretend I went to OSU?

You can be that guy. But that's not for me. I have a team. Even if they are playing poorly they are still MY TEAM.
This, along with my Cubbies, has been a gut-check for me. If I wasn't whipped, I would be attending every game no matter what. I will probably end up making it to the Ball State game.

Well said, I agree with everything you wrote.

The way you posted it before it made it sound like NIU is the only D1 team you have access to watch or something like that.

I'll be at ball state, so you better be there damnit...
I still support NIU, but my enthusiasm is gone... until next year.

The only reason I will go to Homecoming will be to hang out with my fraternity brothers and meet the new collegians who joined this fall. The game will be secondary.

I'll always support NIU. It's where I went to school. I just want to see a new coaching staff and a fresh team next year.

That's a pretty Nice backpedal....

maybe you should play some DB somewhere.

Being regional has really hurt the Pac10, big10, and SEC hasn't it?
