Just listened to Novaks post game interview and to me its scary;

1) No frustration
2) No Passion
3) Just an oh well attitude
4) Just praised the Temple QB
5) Talk about how Temple will be the team of the future
6) Nothing about NIU
7) Seemed completely complacent
8) No sign of a competitive spirit
9) Just an oh well we move on to next week
10) He comes across as RIP - Retired in Place

Please Joe retire, we need a coach with some fire and passion!
It's a broken record. The "aw shucks" and "golly gee" has gotten REALLY old.

Do you really want him to throttle his guys in public?

You don't do that. I don't know if he does it in the locker room, but maybe he does.

Also it is a sticky spot, do you RAIL your team that just lost to Temple? Who knows the right move?
You gotta do something to them. Can we kick Nendick off the team? He has proven he doesn't give a damn in both his actions on the field, the sidelines, and in off the field situations.
at this point, i wouldn't mind if he took the Ozzie Guillen school of thought and hung out all his players to dry publicly. What do you have to lose? They obviously aren't bringing it to the games....
He's leaving the progam the same way he found it: No MAC Titles, a bottom 10 team in the land, lots of injuries, poor talent. If not for Jim Phillips work securing the AAPC, it'd look even worse too.

I could be missing this, and that is okay. But this is a kid who has only missed two extra point in three plus years prior to today. This is a kid who has been absolutely money.

What incidents are you referring to, Bleeds?

im curious what he has done? ive noticed what seemed like a lack of desire but do you have any examples?
A lot of hearsay about not caring. People that have class with him say he wants to skip practice a lot and really doesn't care if they win or lose. May not be true, but the accusations bother me enough.

I think what is frustrating for all of us is that we have seen this program rise over the past ten years. Over the past three years we have been to the post season, and to turn 180 degrees is the shocking part.

I dont agree that we have poor talent. I cant put wrap my arms around it, but the kids (and the coaches) don't have the moxy that we have been accustumed to. There is not swagger to finish off the game. And this has become the mark of the 2007 season. Hope you are close, and in the end our mental toughness just isn't there.

They aren't pros. You don't rail them in public. You can do it in the locker room when all their teammates can see, but not when everyone in the media world can see.

Ozzie Guillen tried to save his job with his broken English rants, and clearly lacks class. Joe Novak is a class act and will not hang players out to dry in public.

By the way, Do you chew out a 1 - 5 team. I think they know they suck.

I agree. You dont rip the kids in public. You motivate them. That's it. You move on. You reach for a goal and take it. Sometimes you get there, and sometimes you dont.

Move on. Put the game behind. Head for homecoming with head high.
If Novak doesnt retire, i will have absolutely ZERO excitement for NIU Football in 2008. What a sad state of affairs. WE NEED A FRESH START!

Really?

Anderson alone makes me want to watch NIU football. A year older for everyone out there getting experience intrigues me. Alex Kube with another year under his belt?

Paul Blalock (or Grady or Harnish) 08 give me hope too! 04-rock

Now that I have to agree with. In my line of work, even if you have been at or near the top in operations for the past umpteen years, you pull a few bad quarters in a row - you gotta go. It is that simple.

Fresh start, try something new.

ok, i'll give you the "they aren't pros" comment. But unless there is another specific incident that makes you think ozzie lacks class besides throwing players under the bus, there is no problem with calling out players if they don't respond in other traditional ways.

well, whatever is being done is getting no response. perhaps, its time for other more extreme measures. after all, they may be kids, but they are still getting a "free" ride to college.

I suppose the defination of lunacy is doing the same wrong thing over and over and expecting different results. I agree something needs to chage, but not in public.

Yeah...You are right, they really responded to what Ozzie did...

So clearly it works. And needs to be done here. Because _____ ?
It was a little over the top to praise Temple. But as for no passion, well what really was there left to say?
