What a douche, especially since he grew up in Akron when the Indians were awesome.

I'm curious as to the Cleveland area feeling about this. I know that if Chauncey Billips showed up to a Tiger playoff game against the Yankees in a NYY hat, I'd be pretty pissed. And Billips isn't the Global Icon that LBJ is.

The wearing of Yankee attire should always be considered a sign of good fashion sense and is appropriate, ney, desirable in any venue or melieu. James should be congratulated on his excellent choice.
He's loyal to his friends (see showing up to a Kent/Akron game to cheer on former St V-M teammates on the Akron squad). I respect that. He's loyal to his favorite teams. I respect that. We're getting the usual Cleveland reaction, which, IMHO, speaks volumes about Clevelander's general inferiority complex and race relations in Cleveland.
He's a Yankees fan. There's not some law that says because he is from that area he has to like the Indians. I'm from the Chicago area and I like the Buccaneers, Lakers, and Reds. I give him props for sticking to his team and wearing his Yankees stuff.
OK, so he's a Yankees fan (which I still think is very lame), but what a slap in the face to Cleveland.

"Hey, I know you guys help pay my salary, but I'm going to root against your baseball team in your own stadium."

Shannon Brown thinks he should take his hat off.

That's it. It's the hat. He doesn't wear that hat, I don't have a real problem with it. Of course, he could have been smart when he was interviewed and said, "I can't lose. I've been a Yankees fan my whole life, but I know the city of Cleveland is dying for a championship, and while we came close, it'd be nice if the Indians could give them one. But if they can't, I hope the Yankees go all the way."

It's called tact.

Maybe if people(hint-you) would stop bringing up race in every situation that it doesn't need to be in(this thread), the country will never get over it. Every time people like you throw it in our faces, it just pisses everybody off more. Having said that, screw the Yankees! Living here in CT, I am sick of hearing about the Yankees. I am getting there when it comes to the Red Sox too.
Witness...another bandwagon fan

Since you live in CT, then maybe you don't know about the local radio host talking about LeBron kissing his "white ass" and maybe you didn't see in yesterday's game, where a fan holding up a sign that said "Hey Wang Wong Number". Get it. Asians have troubles with R's. Damned Hilarious.
In other news, the Indians beat the Yankees.

If you are forming an opinion on race relations in Cleveland based on Mike Trivisano, your criteria is flawed.

LeBron's hat was a major topic of conversation on the Indians Cleveland.com forum last night. More than the game itself. In fact, they're still talking about it:

James has generally made good PR decisions. This one, however, is a mistake that is hurting him with the fan base. That's not an opinion.

Yes, the forum that, when I open it up, I can see that Wang is a "gook". No race relation problems in Cleveland, my bad.
Maybe Cleveland should turn down the hero worship for LeBron a notch or two. Then it wouldn't matter as much what kind of hat he had on.

Liam...how do you feel about the game tomorrow?

why are you picking on Cleveland? Like it's the only city with race problems?

I've seen that kind of talk on many forums. You think you can form an opinion on a city from a forum?

No, no, you're right. I shouldn't form my opinions on Internet forums, the top radio personalities in a city or signs fans hold up at games. Cleveland has no race problems, or, at least, it's not the only city with race problems.
So one or two people say something, and suddenly a city has a race problem? Come on. Small sample size.

But LeBron got booed at the stadium last night, and he should have. Any opposing fan, especially in the playoffs, is going to take it. But a guy who is one of the city's icons? Yeah, you deserve what you get.

Imagine if he was wearing a Steelers jersey. They'd be fishing his body out of Lake Erie. (I wouldn't mind this, because that's one less threat to the Spurs dynasty.)

In conclusion, Cleveland fans should hate LeBron and force him to leave.

Yes, so the Cavs can get back to years of 30-52 records again.
Give the guy a break. LeBron also likes the Cowboys. He likes teams at the top of the sports food chain. My best friends likes the Lakers, Cowboys, Dodgers. Lebron is entitled to root for his childhood teams. This shows how dumb people are. I root for Cleveland teams, my Bobcats, Ohio State, Houston Astros (was Nolan Ryan fan very young), Miami Dolphins (Shula grew up in Painesville/Grand River Ohio area like me). Also rooted for Arkansas(during Eddie Sutton years), but not after Nolan Richardson),

My brother is a huge Padres fan and has been his entire life. Can't say see is a frontrunner like Lebron...because mosty Padre fans had their paperbag teams.

I understand the Yankees and Steeler fans, but Denver Bronco fans in Cleveland are unacceptable. That is plain wrong. Way to many of them.

I'm looking at the Akron game as the litmus test for our disappointing defense. With an offense that has struggled as badly as the Zips has this year, there is no reason why WMU should not be able to hold them to under three scores at home. On offense the Broncos have to display their new found running game and limit mistakes in order to score on a very though Akron D. I think that the offense has been battle tested enough for WMU to win a low scoring game at home. Something like 24-12. I hope some of the Zips make the drive over to Kalamazoo we are expecting a crowd of 20,000+. Should be a warm clear evening, perfect for football.
