I realize this has been an awful season but wanted get everybody's thoughts on positives they have seen for this year and the future.

I think our RB talent looks strong and the O-line is improving. Another positive I see is just about everybody will be back. We are going to have a lot of Sophmore and Juniors with game experience next year.

I'm not sure if having everyone back is a positive or a negative.
Next year won't matter if we don't have the QB situation figured out. Without a home-run threat in the running game, we need a QB to run this offense a lot better. Next year has to be the year to straighten it out, as we will have 5 Sr. receivers. If not next year, 2 years from now could be tough with a new QB and inexperienced receivers.
Thus far "the experience factor", plus there should be one or two pleasant surprises as our underclassmen develop.
I have never seen Blalock play what are we looking at with him? Is he a potential starter for next season? How many years will he have to play after sitting out this year?
Larry English is a positive, we'll be watching him on Sundays.
The Wisconsin game will be a nightmare.
It's almost half over...! Then we can all say, 'there's always next year'.

He'll have 2 seasons left to play.

I saw him play in HS. He was good. I know HS is different, but he can run, and make all the throws. It is a lot of fun to watch him. I sure hope he gets a chance to play, just to see him run around, and then throw a bomb.
The biggest positive to this season IMO is that after it's over we are one year closer to Novak leaving.

Your screen name = our teams performance this year.

Yep have to agree. The game is past him. He did a great job building the program but time with someone with some fire under them to take it over.

Example, look what Hawkins did in a short short time at Colorado. They beat OU today.
Next year reminds me of a joke about a reporter asking a basketball coach after a particularly bad year what were the positives and negatives for the upcoming year. The coach said the positive was that they had everybody returning. The negative was that....they had everybody returning.

Anderson looks like a very good RB. Not like Turner or Wolfe but very good, and I hope he at least gets 1000 yards so we keep that streak alive. Our receivers other than Davis can catch the ball and Matt Simon is good. A few big plays today cost a lot of points but we had some good plays in the rush defense. CMUs QB makes me wish we had a QB that wasn't a statue though.
The Yordon Center was built BEFORE this awful year.
If it wasn't, it still would be on the drawing board.
Matt Simon. He reminds me of a go to guy like Sheldon or Fleck.

I hate it when people say he is like Sheldon.

The only similarties they have is that they are white.

He's much taller then Fleck too.

Wow..so are we...does that mean we are like Sheldon too?
Publicity from Demetrius Jones. First time NIU has been consistently flashed across T.V. screens since we were ranked in 2003!
NIU mentioned with Notre Dame!
A 4 star athlete enroleing at NIU! (A first)
A 4 star QB enroling at NIU!!!
Demetrius Jones will always be remembered as leaving ND for NIU.(despite transfering elsewhere). "NIU is Chicago's school"!
NIU playing at Soldiers Field!
Yordaan center Opening!!! (Maybe we can win back some scholarships we lost)
Nobody will care about our on the field football performance in 2007 in years to come!

NIU must still maintain it's image as an up and comming program! Student enrolement is up, the Basket Ball program is finally showing signs of life.

THE OL is a good suprise. I was really nervous about them since the spring, in fact I was a little over the top worried. They have done a good job and is strong unit to build around.

Defence when healthy is fast and good. Losing McCarthy, Williamson, Rusch and the DLINE is just DEATH to this unit.

The RB's are the weakest we have had since Joe Novak arrived. All staters since Joe arrive are better Andrews,Hammock,Turner & Wolfe are all faster & better. Justin Anderson has to sit down. You DROP my F%^&#ING ball after a 1st down w/ -2- minutes to go against SIU you hold the ball we win....YOU DROP again going in yesterday. SIT DOWN> We have had YEARS with -1- F%^*@ing fumble and you drop it like that. Getting caught from behind constantly.

Our offensive skill positions are SLOW! QB<RB & WR"S. We have a nucleus to win the MAC, but we need SPEED IMMEADIATLY. We need -2- WR"S preferably JC's and a JC running RB> WE ARE SLOW.

Give Justin Anderson a break....he's been good overall and has stepped up after Clanton's injury. He's on track to go for 1000 yards this year. I admit, his fumbles could be better, but he's carried this offense the past few games.
