BK's opening comment:

"Winning is hard. We played well enough to win, and I thought Marshall came in here and played inspired football. They gave us a great test. In the second half, we were able to mount more consistency. I looked at the positives. No. 1, it's the largest crowd in the history of UC. No. 2, it's the first time we've gone 4-0 since the '50s. No. 3, we didn't play our very best and won 40-14. Maybe I'm a little hard on the whole thing. Those are the three things that jump out at me."

This Ben Mauk/Dustin Grutza combo action might last for a while. BK said Mauk had a good day Thursday, but when he warmed up tonight, he felt discomforted. So, Grutza started. Then, Mauk felt well enough to go in and complete 6 of 7 passes for 77 yards and a TD before pulling himself from the game.

"He didn't feel like he had the zip," BK said.

So, BK went back to Grutza and was impressed with his maturity and his ability to lead the Bearcats to an immediate score.

Said Grutza: "It kind of makes you want to go out there and do something. Ben went in there and made some good plays and led us on a drive. When I got my chance to come back in, I wanted to go down and put some points up. The game was getting a little closer, but it worked out."

This might be a recurring theme for the next few weeks.

BK's quote of the night.

Somebody asked him about the attendance, and he came up with this gem when discussing that you had to put a successful team on the field to keep people interested. Not to take this quote too much out of context, BK wasn't saying that Louisville isn't successful.

"We had a chance to watch the Louisville game today and they must have been giving away $100 bills in the parking lot, because people were leaving the stadium in the third quarter."

Yikes.

Of course, the subject of the students came up, and everybody seemed pretty happy with their attendance.

"It was pretty sweet," Digger Bujnoch said. "That was the best student section I've ever seen. They got after it."

Said Mike Mickens: “It was a rush. They were here to support us, and we were ready to go."
