Defending MAC champs lose by 30 at home to a D-AA team and give up over 40. I'm sorry, but CMU will not be going to a bowl this year. 1-3 and its only win over Toledo which is even worse on defense if that is possible.
NDSU is a good squad. They lost to Minnesota by 1. As everyone knows there is no I-AA anymore, it is the FCS division in Division I...
I have to be honest, I have no clue why the NCAA made this "name change" to the football divisions. The change serves no purpose as far as I am concerned. Shouldn't the NCAA be more concerned with more important issues like harassing universities to change their Native American nicknames and remaining silent when their stance actually matters?
It was a humilating loss. One that will take a long time for the Central Michigan faithful to get over. A number of us are very concerned about the rest of the season.

Because a lot of people referred to I-AA as "Division II" and some others also referred to those schools' other sports teams as "I-AA." They're trying to emphasize that those schools are, in fact, Division I.

I refuse to acknowledge this change.
CMU is looking very bad. What a huge drop from a team that won 10 games, a MACC, and a bowl game victory. I think it is a combination of coaching and loss of players. No way did i think CMU's defense was going to be as good as last season with the loss of personnel they had. Outside of the Toledo game, CMU hasn't been competitive in any of their other games and that has to be partly blamed on the coaching staff. I don't like Brian Kelly as a person, but he certainly was a good coach and if he was still with CMU i don't think you guys would be looking this bad.

I also refuse to acknowledge the name changes. I will always refer to the divisions as 1-A and 2-A.

I also agree. It will always be 1-A and 1-AA. I understood why the names were changed but it really does absolutely nothing to change perceptions.

Me too. It's I-A and I-AA.
Me too.

I don't like new coke, Shane Montgomery, Butch Jones, and FCS.

I like the old coke, MIA when Hoep coached there, CMU's team last year and I-A & I-AA.

I have no trouble with I-A, I-AA, II and III.

How long will Montgomery be around if his program doesn't start winning soon?
It doesn't get any easier for CMU...

Sep 29 Northern Illinois
Sat, Oct 6 at Ball State
Sat, Oct 13 Army
Sat, Oct 20 at (13) Clemson

CMU needs to win the next two MAC to keep up in the West. NIU, should come out with the mentality that its a must win game after already losing to EMU. Plus, NIU is never an easy win. I could see CMU going 1-3 the next 4 weeks, with 2 MAC losses! 03-nutkick

You don't have to worry about mixing up DII and DIII they are still the same.

I'm still in the transistion process to the new FBS/FCS format. I see people catching on with FCS but not so much FBS.

Usage like this

BCS
non BCS
FCS

Another issue I see is non BCS dictinction is not even technically correct as all conferences are part of the BCS now. The distinction between the automatic conferences and those that are not still serves purpose in defining haves vs. have nots.

So I'm thinking it would make sense for the "non BCS" to refer to themselves as FBS like you would say Bowling Green is a 1-A school, but not BCS you could say BG is a FBS school.

BCS
FBS
FCS

Or alternatively to not be confused with FCS refer to FBS as "Bowl Subdivision" or even Bowl Alliance conference since that is what technically the MAC/CUSA ect. are.
Rocketman, what a number of us came to realize yesterday is that Central Michigan is probably a bad football team. I don't know how we won our game with Toledo. At this point no one I know of is even thinking about Northern Illinois. We are still caught up in trying to understand a very, very humiliating loss to NDSU. It's hard to let that game go and move on. You think we might go 1-3 over the next four games and I can't disagree with that. I'll go a step further and predict we will have a losing season that could be any where from 5-7 to 3-9. What a hell of a note after last year. How can a team fall that far that fast with the players we had coming back? The only thing I can say about the NIU game right now is it's a good thing it is Homecoming in Mt. Pleasant otherwise the game would be played in an almost empty Kelly/Shorts.
Dont feel too bad about losing to NDSU. They are a great football team who should be "FBS" and probably will be soon. Only Division games matter now.

I refuse to acknowledge your refusal to acknowledge the NCAA refusal to call D1AA D1AA. I support the NCAA's refusal to call D1AA D1AA when D1AA is not D1AA but instead of being D1AA is FCS division of Division 1

They should feel bad. It's not the fact that they lost to NDSU, but the way they lost to NDSU. They were not even competitive at any point.

I said dont feel TOO bad. Of course they should feel bad, you always feel bad after a loss. But NDSt is a team that could hang a loss on many teams in the MAC right now. And even a few in the B10.
