Thanks for posting that. Looked like a TD. BTW...the official that made the call on the field was a MAC official.

Tough break, and believe me, being an EMU supporter, I have had my share of close heartbreaking losses so I feel your pain and frustration on this one.
Wow, you guys got totally screwed in that game.
Looks like a blown call.
What I don't get: MAC officials on the field, Big East officials in the replay booth?
Hard to believe a MAC Official would blow a call. That has never happened before. 01-wingedeagle
i would have overturned based on indisputable evidence. From the view from behind.
the left foot is either behind or at the chalk line when it comes down on the tap. Its clearly not in front of the line. This made me watch again for the end line being disturbed. If his foot is behind the line then it will not be altered. I never saw one sign of some change to that line. The foot doesn't touch it or kicks up chalk. After several views of no sign of him touching that line I had to conclude he was behind that line. I'm not professional but this seems like reasonable indisputable evidence of a touchdown. Truly temple got screwed over today. Gl the rest of the way.
I am never one to blame a loss on officiating and even if Temple was awarded a TD UConn would have had 40 seconds to take the lead or tie. With that said, this was an awful call. BE officials in the replay booth screwed Temple and the MAC today. Temple should have had the lead with 40 seconds to go...just an awful call.
From the low-quality youtube video, it's impossible to tell whether there was green between his toe and the line.

But from the angle with the fat, yellow-coated guy in the way, his foot is down before the stutter-step by a wide margin. Combining those two angles it looks like a catch. Each angle on its own isn't enough to prove whether the foot was down or not, IMO.

Tough call to make.
I saw the end of the game.

it didn't look like a catch at game speed. he caught it in, but it was tought to tell if he got a toe down.

however, on the tv replay, i don't know if the refs had the same shots, it was clearly a catch,. he actually slightly dragged a toe, and then tapped a foot in. i guess the only thing was that it was called incomplete on the field and the refs may not have had a clear angle in the booth.

tough call but both the field refs and the booth missed it.

we feel ya temple.

btw, toledo has lost 2 more defensive starters in the first half vs kansas. now have lost 7 of the starting 11 in the first 3 games.

still ut managing not to get blown out, but has had a couple bad penalties that killed a drive and gave kansas the ball back after a big 3rd down stop. penalties clearly toledo's problem again thsi year.

My take after watching the game live and the YouTube.

I CAN see how the GAME officials missed the call. NFL officials might have had problems because of the way the play developed in the endzone (the ball was deflected and things happened VERY fast in real time).

That said, there is replay for EXACTLY this type of sitatuation.

As someone in the other thread said, "Gutless" is how he characterized the BE replay official's unwillingness to overturn.
Ugh Temple, I feel for you guys. I HATE UConn too. I can't believe they did not overturn that call. Ridiculous.
that blows. I didn't think they would overturn the original call. Temple is looking better every week.
Tough break for Temple. They played a great game and they look like a dangerous team.
I wonder how the rule for replay is written. Does it say that there must be one view that conclusively proves it or can it be from a combination of views? Neither angle shows both possession and the foot inbounds.

It looks like the fat guy in yellow should be UCONN's MVP.

I say touchdown Temple.

So it's safe to assume the replay ref got an "F" in logic.
I say a TD!
and
HuronDave, way were MAC officials at a Big East home game?
Visiting teams' conference providing the officials is pretty much standard at a lot of venues.
Break out the ol' hardware chant - "Nuts & Bolts, Nuts & Bolts, They Got screwed!"
Yeah, Temple, That was ridiculous, your WR clearly had position and his foot touched not once but twice IMO. That sucks, very heartbreaking!
