O.K. we know Auburn is playing at 11:30 and Alabama is playing at 5:45. It seems like the perfect time to start our game would be 2:00. We could play in the daylight and squeeze our game in between the games that catch the attention of 97.8% of the football fans in the state of Alabama. If we are kicking off at 6 pm and finishing our game at the O.K. Corral in the dark and going head to head with Alabama then we are more stupid than I thought we were. Please tell me we are not kicking off at 6 PM this week.
6 p.m.
When have we not started at 6PM for home games? (Besides tv games)

Most home games this season will start at 6:00. Several studies were performed over the past several years to make this determination.
just as an fyi, historically, it makes no difference at all to our attendance when alabama and auburn play, or if they are on tv or not. Some of our best attended saturday games have been head to head with alabama and auburn games. Some of our lowest atteneded games have been on weekends when auburn or alabama has had a bye week. Race weekend hurts us, and we traditionaly avoid home games on iron bowl weekend, but besides that, the main things that affect UAB's attendance are our record and our opponent.

Makes sense, not as hot since it's in the afternoon and time to tailgate before the game plus the game won't end too late. I know it's hard to compete with the other schools in the state but there are enough people in this city and this state who will come to UAB games once we prove ourselves with wins.

If we win, they will come.

I'm only expecting probably 20,000 for this game... but I hope I'm wrong and there's more.

I wanna agree with you 85, but I remember how last year you and me both were a bit surprised by our attendance. Although we are not playing a I-A opponent, I think that this being our first game plus with a new coach who's brought fresh air to UAB football, we bump it up to 25,000.

I would be glad to be wrong in this instance, I just don't know. I guess it's hard to know how the general public feels about UAB right now. I know a number of people that said they would never come to a UAB game again as long as Watson was coaching... but does that number make up just a few, or does it amount to a larger number of maybe a couple thousand? Our season opener last year against a CUSA member (East Carolina) drew just a little over 23,000 so it'd really be a good sign to me if we can draw 25,000 for Alcorn State.

Cheap
It would be nice to have an afternoon game around 2:30 or 3:00 every now and then. We used to do that and it was great to get to watch the team under the big blue sky instead of the lights for a change. It also would help with the temperature in the November games. It gets cold at 9:00 in the Old Grey Lady.
Never have understood all the 6 oclock games, i would enjoy 3pm better.

One word: Kids!

Many young UAB grads have young children that play soccer, peewee football, cheerleading, etc. The later games allow these faithful UAB parents to attending games without having to abandon their families. It also helps keep a steady supply of mini-Blazers in the pipeline!
