How does the AAPC look from the stands? Does it seem like Huskie Stadium holds in the crowd noise and sound better? Thoughts.....

IT LOOKS GREAT, better than I imagined. On the Comcast broadcast Kaplan and Chimel were saying its possibly the BEST facility in the country. I was shocked when they said that, I didnt know it compared that favorably. I love on the TV replay you when there is a FG you can see the HUGE NIU logo in the AAPC really nicely.

They've obviously never been to Texas. Or Ohio State. Or...

That said, it's a terrific facility for NIU and gets them caught up (and ahead of some schools) in the MAC, which is what they sorely needed to do.

It's an absolutely wonderful facility, one that has been long overdue. I took some pics from the West side that I'll post later today.

I thought it looked terrific as well.

For reference on Texas, see below. It's ridiculous:
University of Texas football facilities
Kaplan is often over the top with accolades for NIU.

AAPC is a great facility for NIU and looks good during the games. I will say I'm not all that sure what the red dot lights around the semicircle are intended to add.

I don't believe AAPC had much if any impact on holding noise inside the stadium. I was more interested to observe what impact it has on wind velocity and direction. It was not easy to figure because I saw the US flag in S end zone showing in a southerly direction or calm while seeing the MAC flags atop the brick standards blowing gently cross wind east to west most of the evening.

On the other hand kicking towards the north end zone seemed more difficult that kicking southward . Passing in either direction did not seem as impacted as was kicking the ball.

My occasional observations of flags computed as contradictions to me.

Anyone else weigh in on wind & AAPC?

I suspect we need winds like DeKalb gales from N.NW in late October/November to get better readings.

One football on extra point did ding the glass above terrace walkway. Why is there no net to prevent this?

AAPC is VERY, VERY fine facility but comparing it to the millions and millions of more huge dollars being spent by some BCS programs on facility upgrades , it's less than spectacular.

I'm grateful we have what we have. Thank you donors for making a HUGE difference for NIU athletics.

Kap needs to restrain himself from such hyperboles.
