Tonight is a big night for Akron Soccer as it plays the #1 team in the country, Wake Forest. A win tonight and on Sunday against North Carolina would easily propel the Zips to a top 10 ranking.

Story Here.

This is big for the MAC, even if not all schools have a soccer program. Any time a MAC team is ranked in any sport, it provides respect for the program, the school, and by extension, the conference. Any time a MAC team knocks off a #1 team, it's even better. It should be a good match-up for those of you who are soccer fans.
Go Akron! In soccer, and football tomorrow!
I can't wait till we play you guys! We've got some ranked teams coming up as well.
Akron up 1-0, 3 minutes in! Score by Ben Zamanski

Akron already leads 1-0 in only the third minute.
Goal by Wake Forest off of a Corner kick in the 14th minute, score is 1-1
NIU was edged by #4 Indiana today 1-0. Indiana is the same team we played in the 2nd Round of the Tournament last season. We lost to them by the same score, 1-0 then. We play #9 Notre Dame this Sunday.
End of half, score tied at 1-1.

epasnoopy, good luck to the Huskies playing Notre Dame. A win would be great.
bump. final score?
3-1 Wake Forest wins, but Akron does help the MAC get some respect being a top ranked team. You look at BGSU womens basketball, Ohio volleyball and Field hockey and some other MAC schools like Akron soccer building top 25 programs in different sports. MAC has made progress and despite the economic desparity in football and basketball the conference has become a major conference in other sports.

First, congrats on the ranked soccer team Akron.

Of the required & revenue sports Miami Hockey, BGSU W.Basketball, and Ohio Volleyball are notable for their top 25 success. Rankings in Water Polo, Wrestling, and Rifle done in front of 5-10 spectators pale in context to rankings of the required/revenue variety.
Wrestling in front of 5-10 people, maybe at Ohio. Iowa averaged 7,327 per meet last year. That is almost as much as your precious Hawaii volleyball that you mentioned above.
Central Michigan averaged over 1,000 at home in wrestling last year.

Note to posters: Readers will respect you a lot more when you show a measure of respect to them.

I don't believe it.

At Ohio we are trying to get our Volleyball average up to 7,327. We are a Volleyball school.
Really? We're trying to have volleyball outdraw basketball now? That's news to me. Seriously, man, how about you stop slamming other schools' successes at every opportunity? How about being happy for our fellow teams for once?

That is not what its about for me. All I'm trying to do is explain how it all works when I see incorrect usage. I'm condescending, sarcastic, silly and whatever else to get my point across to these dense minds.

You don't realize it but when I started on these boards I was told by BG and Kent fans that Ohio was nothing but a hippy school while they were the place to be. Really ignorant viewpoints. When I said otherwise it rocked their worlds because we can't do anything in sports with it all being hippies in Athens.

You have no idea of what I had to deal with back in the day.03-melodramatic

I don't believe it.

Why not?

Is it because you don't believe wrestling can draw or because Ohio wrestling (if they have a team) doesn't draw and therefore no MAC wrestling team can draw a crowd.

I just believe the number was pulled out of his ass.

And yes we do have a Wrestling team.
NIU Men's Soccer tied #9 Notre Dame today 1-1. Rebounding from their 1-0 loss to #4 Indiana on Friday.
