What a great game!!! Closer than I would have liked ... but so it goes. I already had a high level of respect for your program going into last Saturday's game ... and your guys did little to change my mind. Your squad is well coached and they fight hard! What more can you ask for?

As for the few sore fans out there, don't worry that much about your running game. Clanton actually impressed me a good bit. My guess is that he'll be able to rip off many 100 yard games for you this year. However, the blocking on your interior line has to improve a bit more yet.

Overall, I thought that your D played very solidly. From how the personnel looked ... it seemed like you guys were trying to maximize your speed in the secondary, so I expected that you guys would be susceptible to the run. I was correct ... however, the move still benefitted you guys on pass D. I was pretty darn impressed with how consistent your DBs were in coverage.

Anyhow, I think that if your guys continue to work hard and learn each week from prior game-tape ... I think that you guys could really make some noise this year in your conference!

Good luck Huskies!!!!
Thanks, Homer. We had a good time at SF. Most Hawkeye fans were fine. Good luck to the Hawks the rest of the season.
Thanks Homer! You're definitely right about the O-line. We have to clean up our run D as well. Goodluck Hawkeyes.
Thanks Homer. Good luck to Iowa the rest of the season. Beat the living daylights out of the Illini please!
Thanks Homer! Hard to tell how our running game will be this year as we all know that Iowa's D is very good, better than we're likely to see in conference games. Good luck this season. We are undersized on D and we hope that our speed will make the difference. I think it does if the defense doesn't have to spend most of the game on the field. In that case the D seems to wear down after a while.

Your RB Young is impressive - I watched him juke out a defender at the line of scrimmage, run around him, then carry 2 more guys for several yards. That's a good combo.
