Q: Can you tell, did they get that momentum going?

SIMS: Yea, Seth Olsen and Ralf [Eubanks], when those guys get hungry and they feel like how the backs feel when we're making plays [run after run], and we're kind of like, 'yeah, keep running it.' They're saying the same thing, 'let's go,' everybody is kind of tired but you look at the man across from you and you see he's tired too just like you, but he's willing to fight. And that's what we did today. We looked at them [Northern Illinois], and saw them demoralized, they didn't want to play so we just kept continuing to run on them and we had success.

makes sense.....they were on the field an exhorbitant period of time and got tired....they looked beat in the later stages of the game.

I am cautiously optomistic on our D not continuing this trend since it is not a talent based event but one that developed because of our anemic offense.

If we can keep our D off the field for periods of time, we can have a really strong D.

Just like pitching in baseball.....good pitching wins games.....unless you cant score. YOu have to have SOME offense to make your pitching look great. Currently we do not have that.
How would you feel if you were on our defense? Our offense was embarrassing and I don't know how they could have thought they had much hope. After going out there and stopping Iowa repeatedly to see their offense just give the game away I imagine most of us would be demoralized too.

+1, we saw the same thing with a VERY GOOD defense in the Bears and Kyle Orton a couple years ago.
The offense was NOT embarrassing.... but disappointing, yes.
You expected another Wolfe running behind a young O line against a veteran UI D?

We were still in the game midway third quarter and even later.

The big boys simply wore down our front.
Somebody should ask Mr. Sims why they only managed 16 points then.

That D that didn't want to be on the field gave up an entire 3 points in the 2nd half.

While it might be true they were a bit demoralized you do not say that to the media, that is a disappointing comment.
