-- I wonder how many of those that showed where Navy fans?

Jackson
Navy has a good team this year. Are things looking up for the Owls ? Lets hope so, they have had a rough decade.
Navy fans travel REALLY well. Wouldn't surprise me if they brought 10 to 12 thousand fans to that game.
Temple did exactly what Rutgers did prior to this season offered promotions up the ying yang. There was supposedly a decent contingent of South Jersey Rutgers fans there too supporting the Owls since many feel like I do that Golden will get that ship turned around.
at least they were competitive and didnt get blown out like a number of times recently.
Good luck to them
You're right CC, Navy had 10,000 there. Golden doing great job, marketing, building intrest & recuriting. As game day coach Golden is struggling. I tought Temple could win this game if they got somes stops or turnovers [which they got], & put pressure on Navy with KO returns, maybe run one back [ Temple strengths ]. Navy had more return yards on less attempts. Crowd was nice, actually felt like CFB game.

That still means that Temple brought in 20,000 which is strong. And they looked competitive against a good Navy team so Golden might be getting Temple turned around.
I watched some of that Navy-Temple game Friday night, and the crowd looked pretty good. Temple was fighting back against Navy which was a good sign. Also, I noticed that Temple has new unis again this season. It seems like Temple changes their uniform just about every other year. Maybe they are trying to figure out what uniform will win more games. I would be interesed in seeing how many different uniforms Temple has had during the past decade or so.
Golden brought back those uniforms from the 70's or 80's, I can't remember, but he said they were the most recognizable uniforms on the east coast.

Temple reminds me of South Florida a few years ago, they seem like a whole new program and I will be following their progress.

I'd rather see Syracuse in the old Temple jerseys than what they wore Friday night. Then again, if Syracuse doesn't get some offense and soon, Temple will be outdrawing them.
Good to see Temple stepping up. UCONN will play them in week 3 so we will be looking forward to it.
The crowd is a good start. We'll have to see what they draw if they lose a few more and the opponent doesn't draw like Navy does.

Temple has to be pleased on the field, as moral victories still have to matter some at this point. They lost to Navy 42-6 last year, and this was a one possession game with 4 minutes left after the Owls got a TD.
No College Card, no moral victories here. This game was winnable with better coaching decission. He does everything by the book, that only works if you have more talent.
I'm sure no players or coaches would claim to be pleased with moral victories. Most fans probably wouldn't say it out loud either. Its tough to go straight from 50 point losses to wins every week though. Golden at least seems to be an improvement over Wallace.
Navy fans didn't have to travel for this game. There's a big naval base just outside of Doylestown, which is at the end of one of the train lines into Philly. I figure Navy could have filled the stadium if they'd really wanted to.
I watched most of that game, and I have to say Temple looked pretty good at times. Much better than last year, IMHO. They were killed by some terrible penalties early on, a couple of them very questionable.

Hopefully they can get things together in the next 5 years.
Temple as a conference member has something to play for each week. A division title and then a conference title. That helps teams not quit after losing big during non-conference season. Temple may go 0-4 non-conference but they woud be 0-0 vs the MAC and come October the fans would have a reason to come cheer. Army and Navy should join the Big East for this reason. Notre Dame is Notre Dame, but other independents need something to play for.
Notre Dame would be wise to join a conference itself.

The ACC would be a good fit for ND with its east coast media markets and heavy amount of private schools.

Dame could not handle the Big E right now its too tough.

Golden is alot like Schiano he's doing things in much the same way as Schiano did/is doing. This has all the visuals of what was happening in 2003 for Rutgers.

About 8000 Navy fans, and 22,000 Temple. Nice crowd, great college atmosphere, and Temple looks significantly improved.
