I had a great time. Met a lot of huskie fans. Mooched a lot of food and drink!!!

Couple of things NIU could do next time.

Pre sell parking to Waldron lot to HASF members. It would have been nice to have all huskie fans in one location.
Make sure they have more bathrooms. I had over 12 beers and was dying to go. Had to wait till getting to Alumni tent. Not enough.
I think pre-sold parking would be a great idea. I'd even pay a little extra.
If NIU does host a game at soldier field again...the ticket situation abasolutely must improve. The disparity between NIU & Iowa fans was discouraging...it almost felt like we were in Kinnick again. Can we legitamatley put 30K in Soldier Field???? I'm not so sure.
I was shocked by how long it took the 31st st lot to fill up. For a noon Bear game, that sucker is full at 8 am. We showed up at 9:30 today and it was darn near empty.

I'm all for the pre-sold parking, though. By the way, entering through the south end (the Iowa end): bad idea. It was Linn County, half of Muscatine and me down there.
You know what was sad about our fans today? It was all alumns. I saw hardly any students. We parked in the Waldron lot and it was like standing on Greek Row in Iowa City. Given what we saw some of the coeds doing, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

despite the outcome, I enjoyed most all aspects of the day - except the HEAT. Lord was it ever HOT HOT HOT in North endzone until almost the last four minutes of the game.
I remained until the very end.

when I returned home to Lombard at 6:30 , others met us for dinner at a restaurant that had THREE separate tables of Hawkeye fans scattered in dining room.( BTW: Owner is an NIU alum). I said months ago, I have seen them everywhere I travel about the west burbs. It should neither have surprised nor embarrassed any Huskie fans to be so outnumbered in SF. Families have been following their teams for generations...and what else is their to do in Iowa? There are no other competing teams within hundreds of miles from Iowa City , pro or otherwise, to support in Iowa other than the Hawkeyes. It's not like they have NU, UICU and ND in their backyard.

.....and he sounded proud of it when I talked to him. 05-stirthepot ........Oh, Hi Klake. 04-cheers
I met a lot of Iowa fans. I love Soldier Field, but now I can honestly say I hate the color yellow. Outside of the stadium I saw hardly any NIU fans, only Iowa fans.
so does anyone know exactly how many NIU fans were there? I'd think about 19,000?
If NIU has another SF game, please lets not play Iowa. I want to see us start the year every year with the Soldier Field Classic NIU vs Illinois. I've been waiting for this forever and I don't understand why we can't get that done so this could have a cool trophy and some kind of state bragging rights.
I had a great time there, we had a group of about 8 - 10, got the flippy cup table out and played at least 50 games against Iowa Fans, was great. 6 from NIU vs. 6 from Iowa for about 4 hours, was a great time. I was told that NIU had told fans not to arrive until 9:30, but we got there around 8:30 and we were allowed in, at that time it was all Iowa fans almost. I think that was also part of the problem, fans just didn't know what to expect.
This is a new experience for NIU fans, I think next time around it will go a lot smoother.

Was it NIU's "home game"??? Because when Toledo plays Ohio State in Cleveland, its going to be our home game and we have to sell over 51,000 tickets for the game while OSU will only get 12,000 tickets.
when we got to our seats there were iowa fans in one of them. The woman moved but the old grandpa with their group got pissed that we waned to sit in teh seats we paid for since it was about an hour before game time. He kept bitching that she shouldn't move and we should shut up and sit in different seats.
My dad got seats as a HASF member and we were sitting next to Iowa fans. Why couldn't the athletic department/ticket office put all HASF and season ticket holders together so we had a full block of NIU fans instead of Iowa fans sprinkled amongst us?

If you are smart you'll require a $100 donation to the UT athletic fund for every ticket purchased. That way when the Buckeye fans buy up 30,000 of your 51,000 ticket allotment you will have an extra $3 million in the bank at their expense.

u arent kidding man, i obtained a pretty ridiculous sunburn from sitting in the north endzone...im a firm believer in global warming after yesterday, because i swear to god we were positioned directly beneath that hole in the ozone layer...it was like the sun was 15 feet above my head
if we have another SF game, don't let me drink so much.

Ha Ha...glad to meet you Kingbutter...at one point you woke up and tried really hard to focus on the cheerleaders...see you in Madison!
If NIU has another game at SF .......

1) Control access to the Waldron Deck and restrict the admittance to this highly desirable location to HASF members based on their points in our new point system.

2) Write into the contract that all Cadillac Club seats and all seats on the west side between the goal lines and in the lower 2 levels must be Huskie fans. Otherwise don't schedule to game at SF so that we can ensure our fans are the ones in those seats.

3) Schedule different teams that also will sell out SF such as the school down south or Northwestern or another team with a large following.

4) Prevent me from getting so drunk that I only remember bits and pieces of the game and end up hungover the next day (I am typing this message in my briefs, slippers, and bath robe).
