It won't happen, but I give this guy credit for thinking about the end goal, BCS Bowl Games,

it's my opinion that if purdue joined the big east, they'd be a middle of the road team, at least right out of the gate. rutgers, louisville and west virginia are much better than purdue. by that i mean that it's not that those teams are good enough to beat purdue, it's that purdue isn't good enough to beat them. that puts them at 4th place at best. i think uc and usf would give them a run for their money as well.
i agree - purdue would be middle of the pack at best in the BE. that said - i'd welcome them into the fold to get our numbers right. geographically they make sense too...

They would be a great add to the Big East, good football good basketball, good location for UC fans.
I think football wise, they would be in the upper tier, but basketball they would be middle of the pack.
"i think that they'd be in the upper tier in football"

Really? What has Purdue done to lead you to believe that they can hang with UofL, WVU, RU or for that matter UC, USF or Pitt? I'm not sure that they'd exactly roll over SU or UCONN either...Purdue is OK at best - drew brees is long gone and so are their national title hopes...

UL and WVU are the top of the conference without a doubt. RU has had one good year, although I think they will continue to be good while Schiano is there. Syracuse hasnt been good in years. There are high school teams in this area that would roll over them. That leaves UC, UCONN, USF and Pitt. If you toss Purdue in there, I think they'd compete with RU, UC and maybe USF for the third spot, at worst the fourth. (Come to think of it, fourth would be middle of the pack too. Maybe I should amend the statement. "I think they would be in the upper tier/ high part of the middle of the pack in football".)
That thread was comical at best. The rest of the country does look at Purdue as a top football school. They had some good teams in the mid/late 60's and then dropped off the map until Brees came through. Since then, the argument could be made they have underperformed. In the Big Ten they have always been a middle of the pack team at best. Now do not get me wrong, they have had some great games against the U of M's and OSU's over the years. In the Beast UL and WVU would wax them. Heck, we gave them a game and should have beat them when we were in CUSA. That year they had a decent team by their Big11 standards.
Agreed 100% Mill!

Typical Big 11 arrogance, for them to think they can just waltz into the BE and dominate it. I got news for them: after the top three in that league, the entire remaining teams in the conference (not just PU) have more than their share of mediocrity.

Comparing UC/USF to the MAC 03-lmfao And referring to UConn as "Central Connecticut"? At least if that were an OSU/Michigan poster, I'd say there's SOMETHING there to back it up... but Pur-freaking-due?? 03-lmfao
I find it funny that the Purdue's and MSU's of the world always pull the, "we are in the Big 11, so that means our programs are top tier." These teams seem to have their fare share of being upset every year by I-AA and mid to lower level I-A teams. Heck, when PSU joined everyone said PSU would be a bottom feeder. That didn't happen. My father took us to a MSU game the year after their Rose Bowl run in 1988. They had most of the team back and were playing a horrible Rutger's team. All day he and other MSU fans said that MSU would crush Rutgers. Well, Rutgers manhandled them on the way to a great upset. After the game some Rutger's students ran on the field with a sign that said "The Roses are dead." Priceless.
Purdue would certainly be welcome if they decided to join the Big East. Why not? They probably meet our academic and athletic standards.

But why would Purdue leave Mama Pig's Nipple?

Even Purdue's Arrogant Fools wouldn't be foolish enough to leave the Big 10.
Why would Purdue leave the Big 11 just when there may be big money coming to them from the Big 11 Network? It matters not that the network might fail. Those who work in academia are too chicken to move away from something that MIGHT pay out in a few years.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, teach. Those who can't teach, teach Phys Ed. Those who can't teach Phys Ed, work in IT for the government.
And those who can't work in IT for the Government, piss and moan about the Government on internet bulletin boards.
