Illinois State loses at HOME to DRAKE (not even a I-AA school), 27-24.

Do they really believe they can still make the Big 12?

Worked out for us. Got to see how the 2nd and 3rd stringers played in a game situation and we didn't suffer any injuries. And Quincy is about the same as Drake, football-wise.

FYI Drake is a I-AA school. They are in the Pioneer Football League along with schools like Butler, Dayton and Valpo.

Quincy is Division II
The Pioneer league is D-1AA but they do not offer scholarships.

The league champion is not guaranteed a berth in the post season playoffs, although they could be invited as an at-large team.

Currently, at year-end, the champion of the Pioneer League plays the champion of the Northeast Conference in the "Gridiron Classic".

The Pioneer League consists of Drake, Valpo, Dayton, Butler, Davidson, Jacksonville (FL), Morehead State (KY), and the University of San Diego.

Got the info from Wikipedia.

Sounds like an NFL preseason game!

I got offered to play volleyball there, no scholarship though
hahaha good **** guys. My God I went home a few times this summer and B/N was buzzing about the birds. They got this brand new scoreboard they were all pumped about and to add insult to injury the damn thing didn't even work during the game last night! That's right... no operating scoreboard for last nights game!

i have a former teammate that plays for Quincy and my brother goes there. I talked to both and they both said even though it was 59-14 SIU is not as impressive as most other 1-aa teams they play and they feel that if NIU comes within 14 of iowa that the salukies should be 15+ dogs for the game.
+15 would be kind of rough, but I'd probably agree. If we played like we did last night, we're not going to beat NIU next week. I was very happy with our offense, but our defense has to do better than what we did last night. Quincy only had two real drives (they were shut down pretty well on every other drive), but in those two drives, they were able to move the ball pretty well against SIU.

I do think we gave a half assed effort, but still, we didn't look as impressive as I would have liked to see. But last year, we opened up against some filler named Lock Haven and beat them by "only" 49. We didn't look too particularly good in that game as well and the next week, we beat Indiana. So who knows what's going to happen?

SIU will be hardly prepared for us after playing that game. Sure, they'll have a few more days off than us but playing weak teams like that doesn't prepare you for better competition.

A full (62) scholarship D1AA program losing at home to a non scholarship D1AA (really D3 level which is what non scholarship football should be) is just incredible. I'll bet their attendance is going to tank the rest of this year.

ISU was supposed to not only contend for the Gateway title, but also be a contender in the I-AA title picture as well.

I think their attendance was over 13,000 for their game vs. Murray State last weekend, which is about 4,000 more than those that show up to SIU games. I have no clue what WIU and EIU attendances are, but are probably equal to or lower than SIU's. Illinois State was still ranked after that loss. With their win over Murray State they are #15 in the 1-AA poll.
