DURHAM, N.C. - Duke jumped from sixth to second in the latest standings for the 2006-07 Division I Sports Academy Directors' Cup. The most recent standings were the second set for the fall and include men's and women's cross country, men's and women's soccer, field hockey and men's water polo.

Duke competes in five of those six sports and has racked up 266 points to date. Duke finished 10th in women's cross country for 60 points, third in field hockey for 83 points, advanced to the second round of the women's soccer NCAA Tournament for 50 points and to the elite eight of the men's soccer NCAA Tournament for 73 points.

Virginia leads the way with 303 points so far and Duke is followed up by Colorado (254), Stanford (244) and Wake Forest (243). League-wide, North Carolina ranks ninth to put four ACC teams in the Top 10. Maryland (12th), Clemson (16th) and Florida State (20th) also give the ACC seven of the Top 20 teams, as well.

The next set of standings will be released Dec. 28 and Duke will look to pick up points from women's volleyball with Duke's run to the second round of that NCAA Tournament. The final fall standings will be out Jan. 11 and will include football on top of all of the above mentioned sports.
