The chief point Trump was trying to make (while that idiot reporter kept asking stupid questions) is that they HATE us in many foreign nations. That's something I've commented on as well in this forum. Those of us who travel a lot have seen it.
And it's not the envy that has always been there for the American lifestyle, it's genuine disgust and hate for our wreckless foreign policy. For doing what's only in America's interests without thinking about the impact on others.
Bush blew it. He had it on a silver platter after 9/11 and he fumbled the gift away. He could have been right up there in the history books with F. Roosevelt, Reagan and T. Roosevelt. Now people will laugh at him as the second Millard Fillmore!
