They will open up at home with Boston College 08-28-2008 instead of the Patriot Bowl. Who knows if the Patriot Bowl will even be around after this year's game, so it's nice to see them take on a BCS team at home instead.

04-cheers

It was crazy to think they would give away the BC game, to play Navy in Cleveland like was being suggested. Glad they came to their senses. Play the Navy game there instead of the I-AA hone game, but don't trade off a quality BCS opponent on your home turf.
Exactly, and what if the Patriot Bowl goes belly up after this game, and after we opted out of the BC game we're left scrambling for an opponent again and are stuck with some obscure D-IAA team again? With BCS games at home for a mid-major being so scarce, there should be very little they'd cancel out of it for, and playing Navy in Cleveland isn't one of them IMO.

That's great for Kent State. What is the deal, 1 for 1 or did they pull a PSU and require 2 for 1s?
The only promblem is Kent brought 20,000 in for Minn last yr. there will be less intrest in BC. I can't believe nobody would take home game with BC off your hands. If somebody would wander over to your bussiness school & ask about marketing you might be able to put people in seats for Patriot Bowl. Bowl game is a Bowl game no matter what the date.

I beg to differ. This may sell out the re-dedication of a refurbished Dix.
you don't waste re-dedication of stadium if you expect sellout on BC. you waste it on Temple
Minnesota brought about 200 fans, 150 of which from the strong Columbus contingent on the Gophers last year. Kent State was coming off a miserable 1-10 season. The turnout for the Minnesota was very good, and it built into great turnouts for Akron and Toledo. Unfortunately, a couple tough breaks early went against KSU, and Minnesota ran them off the field.

The BC game is a huge opportunity for KSU, and if the program can continue to take steps forward, it could be the first huge showcase game.
that's an awesome opportunity for Kent. Nice work
Thursday Nite game. This should be TV like when BC played at Central Michigan last year.
