New offense, new defense, maybe new quarterback and first
year BCS coach.

The team is deep and tough minded (give Donanto credit),
but with all these changes, are we going to struggle.
i think the first game will have a lot of growing pains on offense. BK said this weekend that the defense is ready to go, so i think worst case scenario, we can rely on the D to win our first game regardless of what the offense does.

and the fact that i don't think we'll have a quarterback set by that game will be a cause for struggling early. i think we're going to see 2 or 3 guys in there throughout the course of the game.

so all in all, yes we will struggle...
I think we are going to struggle a little bit the first month. Too much to change all at once. I could definitely see us losing that OSU game and then one of the next 3 to start 3-2 heading into Rutgers. I'm excited as hell about this season but I don't expect much more than 6 wins. Not a slam. Just looking at the schedule and factoring in a totally new system that requires different personnel on the offensive side of the ball.
It appears from BK's quotes that he is primarily interested in league play. He sounds very willing to test different player combinations in the first 4-5 games to get the team ready for Rutgers and beyond. I'm not overly excited by that even though he is right that the league record is what gets the BCS bowl.
Sounds like our offense is going to have growing pains. In the past I have seen a new offense take 3-4 games to adjust. I hope it does not take us that long, but am expecting it. From what I have been hearing the defense is sound. I am expecting them to keep us in games this year or at least until the offense comes around. I would like to take one from OSU, but we will see.
I think the excitement of the new yr pulls us through the first few games at least at the home, the letdown is probabaly more expected on the road where the fans wont add the extra adrenaline when things get close.
If the offense is struggling as much as Coach Kelly is making it seem, we might be looking at 2-3 going into Rutgers.
maybe not

OK maybe - losses to Oregon State and San Diego State, but who is the 3rd loss
Marshall and Miami both worry me. If there's a problem with the Offense moving the ball, one of those can easily be a trap game.

I like the way Coach Kelly shoots off his mouth and gets everybody fired up. Reminds me of someone else. I just hope he knows that when you shoot off your mouth you have to be able to back it up. Paybacks are he$$.:billgates: Don
I do not see Kelly as shooting his mouth off. He is outspoken and confident in his speech. About time we have someone who is positive about his program in Clifton.
THe offense struggled all year last year... we still were 8-5... I think the offense is probably better than it sounds, but not nearly at the level Kelly expects it to be. I fully expect to be at least 4-1 out of the gate... The game against ORegon State...we'll see.

I agree. Sounds like his comments have a little rope a dope in them to keep the offense motivated.

I know it is a long road trip...But I think San Diego State was 2-10 last year.

I think we can stop them and I hope that we can score.
