Temple fans what is up w/ losing -5- signee's?

According to the Rivals Owl Scoop -5- players Williams,Howie,Wilkerson,Wells and Spain failed to make grades for enrollment and a 6th is on the border , but will probably make eligibility. Is this a good long term strategy for Temple?

I understand being aggressive and losing a player or two, but -5- is ridiculous. I just could not understand how you could be signing so many players so late until I read the Owl Scoop website.
well thats how we signed 30... which is impossible... so lossing 5 puts Temple at the 25 max its also why coach says we have 11 already commited for 08'
Look, when a program has been down as bad as Temple has been down - sometimes to get better players, you take a chance with some iffy academic cases. Some will work out and some won't. Hopefully, those that you get in, you go the extra mile to help them with the academics, you in turn have some better athletes that help your program elevate.

Once the program gets to a certain point of success, you can be more selective academically. I think that many times previously, down programs have followed this senario. It is a bit of a gamble, but hopefully, not too many get lost.
which williams?
if you want ... I find it hard to believe Temple is the only one not to have all its signees reporting this fall. I thought its pretty common ... AS you may have also heard there have been some great guys walking on
Every body losses kids, 5 might be on the high side. The 2 DL I liked thier size. Wells & williams are good athletes, Spain I did not know much about

Most teams take chances on kids and may lose a kid. Not many lose -2- the same year, by that I mean less than 25% of D1 teams. I have no problem with schools taking chances on kids especially the right kind of kid i.e. (good character solid citizen). But I have a problem losing -5- in one year, that is IMO a huge number. It indicates to me the staff is not building a program in the best LONG - TERM interests of the university, but short term win some games and get a new gig. If I was the university President and Golden pulled this stunt again he would be launched immediately.
I agree. It tells me Golden will leave if/When he wins 6 Games.

First, five is not a huge number-Penn State lost four, Alabama and Miami lost at least 3, UF lost 3, etc.
Second, all but one of these recruits is going to prep school or JC and have committed to attend TU when they qualify, one as soon as January. Most of these kids weren't admitted by TU, although they are NCAA qualified.
Third, they picked up a couple of kids late; Liverpool a first team all-state WR from NJ who committed to BC before deciding to play minor league baseball and a lineman from NY.
The Owls will be fine, but thank you for your concern.
We've seen this movie before. Be careful how these guys make their spending money while they get eligible.

Only time you will read Temple football referenced with Penn State, Alabama, Miami and Florida. Plus, at minus 5, they win.
man you guys are lame...
Update & Correction: I stated earlier that Temple has lost -5- recruits from the class of 07' failed to make it academically, that number has now grown to -7- with the additions of RBs Corwin Acker & Kee-ayre Griffin. Keep up the good work Mr. Golden.
lol... you read what the mac has done over the last few years and you boys still think your **** don't stink.
NCAA Clearinghouse, no problem. They'll get it sorted.

I'm sure glad you're paying so much attention to Temple's August developments cause I assure you, know one in this metropolis is paying any attention to NIU's...
If that were true, and we all know its not, any logic for adding Temple to the MAC flies out the window. My guess is (and you better hope this is true) that Al Golden and his coaches lead the pack of at least hundreds in Philly that have at least a passing interest in NIU's August (as a UT fan I hope its not august) development.

I'm not surprised. Shoot, you have enough trouble getting the people in that metropolis ot pay attention to TEMPLE, for cryin' out loud.02-13-banana
It happens Michigan State lost two that never made one was homesick and the other academics, also have two starting WRs one academics the other suspended and one JUCO who barely made it.

Alot of kids report and think they are ready for the demands of Div I football. At EMU we lose alot of guys during the summer training camp.
Of course you could stock an Temple team with the RBs who have tried and failed at EMU the list of credentials is impressive the performance less so.
Have you seen Temple record, certainly there taking more chances. Some will go to prep school, & others to JC. Hopefully these kids can take advantage of the oppertunity to play CFB & get education. That why I pay taxes so schools can educate the masses.
