just thought you'd like to know
Shutup, play sports, and quit ruining my life!
And this has NOTHING to do with FSU... so why did you bother??? '

Quote:The Florida State Seminoles, Central Michigan Chippewas and Utah Utes were exempted because of support from local American Indian tribes. An appeal by the North Dakota Fighting Sioux was rejected because it did not have the backing of Sioux tribes in the state.
Illinois had an Indian mascot that was banned, FSU has an Indian mascot...I'm just a concerned sports fan. If any of these other tribes withdraws their support, the others may fall like dominoes :frown:
thats what they get for hiring the guy who canned Knight was president
Once again the hypocritical NCAA needs to get over it with the banning of mascots names.
How can they complain about a mascot name being "hostile" but sell the schools merchandise on their website??
As for the SEMINOLES, the tribe in Tallahassee APPROVES of Florida State using the Seminole name and to some extent so does the tribe in Oklahoma.
The NCAA can stick it where the sun dont shine as far as I'm concerned, they have no problem what so ever making money off of these nicknames but the universities are not allowed to use them??
they can keep the name. but not the image. yeah that makes sense.
