This is coming from a report on one of the BearcatInsider boards.

If the info from this WV newspaper about future Big East football schedules is correct, UC will be playing at Oklahoma in 2008 and hosting the Sooners in 2010.

That would square with the rumor about a blockbuster series being forthcoming.

That schedule also shows us starting an annual series with Purdue, which would be a great move, and playing the Miami Hurricanes as well. The Oklahoma series would make sense from their perspective in it would be a homecoming opportunity for Bob Stoops, who is from Youngstown. It would be a chance for his proud home folks to come down and see his team play in person.
Also, the return home game against Virginia Tech is in the upcoming schedules.
Holy crap, that would be awesome! Sounds a little reminiscent of Dave Curry's scheduling though.02-13-banana
177 miles from Wichita to Norman 04-rock Anyone for a "Bearcat Offsite Get-Together"?

Gotta say, "MT Suit" is putting together a challenging schedule even Brent can be proud of.
Love to hear this. If you really aspire to be included in the discussion with the big boys, got to negotiate these types of games year in and year out. That's gettin er done.
I thought Thomas dropped the Georgia series to play a team closer georgraphically.

Cincinnati to Athens, GA: 462.5 miles
Cincinnati to Norman, OK: 867.4 miles

Hmmmm....

All things considered, I still like it. Why the change i thinking [/u]Mikey Boy?

He did mention that he would rather play regional BCS teams, but the main reason he cancelled is that he felt since we are in the Big East we should not have to sign a 2 for 1 with anyone. It looks like we replaced a 2 for 1 with Georgia for a home and home with Oklahoma. Looks like the right decision to me.

Apparently, 1-for-1 is better for us than 2-for-1.

Our strategy under Currey was to go and play those folks on the road for a paycheck, and pray we could be competitive (which only rarely happened.) We also tried to use it to prop up our recruiting ("Come here and you can play Auburn and Penn St. and Miami..."), because we had nothing else to offer -- no league, horrible facilities, no realistic bowl possibilities, no TV.

So our current circumstances are totally different. I'd love to see us play 1-2 big-name out-of-conference teams per year, particularly if we can get them on a 1-for-1 basis.

It is by my math. Now that we are out of a mid-major conference, no more 2 for 1 deals.
1 for 1's with BCS teams are clearly obvious now that UC is a BCS team. However the fastest way to a BCS game is doing 1 for 1's with IU, Purdue, Kentucky, Vandy, Maryland etc. Big East teams are quite good and Oklahoma is on par with the Michigans and OSU's of the world....difficult team to beat. Nonetheless playing of the top ten programs of all time is exciting, especially since we get them at Nippert. Sure hope that this return game is played at Nippert because I want all of "UC fans" who do not go to Nippert to struggle to get a ticket. If played at PBS more tickets are available. Also playing softer BCS teams OOC (pending a loss) can help you ranked a little easier.
Curious to where the local Cincinnati media is with this report?

Hey O, Koch is busy following football players around at night and digging up dirt.
Wow, impressive scheduling. I am rooting for BK to get some wins out of that.

Just scheduling tough national games isn't enough if we lose all of them.

But I have a feeling that BK may change that for UC. That would be great.

I am starting to catch some UC football excitement!
I'd be shocked if that game isn't at Paul Brown Stadium. While in principle it would be nice to play them in the cozy confines of Nippert, our athletic department can hardly afford to turn it's nose up at the prospect of selling 20-30k additional seats for a UC football game.
Mad props to the football program if they were indeed able to get Oklahoma to agree to a home and home series. Also the Purdue is a good series. Is the Miami game part of an old contract or part of a new one? I know we were supposed to go there last season but they canceled the game.

Miami is part of the old contract.
Outstanding work on MT's part to get a home and home with Oklahoma.
Yeah, i have to give Mike T his props. If you look up and down the OOC schedule that was posted on Lance's site it appears that every year we are solid. Each year you have the conference schedule and one away and home game with a solid BCS team.

That was his excuse. He didn't want to do a 2 for 1 deal is the real reason.
