Good to see some unbiased predicitions on the MAC's bowl prospects.

Wow! WMU 2-6 in the MAC!
Somebody is still a little sore about last year's thumpping (the one given before all of UT's so called "injuries").

That was his 2006 predictions, not his projections for 2007.....

I was worried for a second, I though we were kicked out of another conference. Go Owls!!
Once the entire 2007 Pigskin Preview is up and running - you will see WesternWilly that I've got the Broncos picked to win the entire MAC championship. I really like this years Bronco team. They have a real shot at cracking the Top-25 at some point during the season.

My bad.
Carry on as if this never happened and have a nice day.03-2thumbsup
Here is a tally of the predictions of the three sources provided. I gave each team the number they were predicted to finish and added the three rankings. The lower number the better obviously.

East
1. Ohio 5 (1,2,2)
2. Akron 7 (3,3,1)
3. Kent St 9 (5,1,3)
4. Miami 10 (2,4,4)
5. BGSU 16 (6,5,5)
6. Temple 17 (4,7,6)
7. Buffalo 20 (7,6,7)

West
1. CMU 5 (1,1,3)
2. WMU 5 (2,2,1)
3. BSU 11 (5,4,2)
4. Toledo 11 (4,3,4)
5. NIU 13 (3,5,5)
6. EMU 18 (6,6,6)

The only surprising thing to me was the lack of respect that Northern Illinois seems to be getting.

That is a bit unrealistic I think.

I am not being a CMU homer we have many shoes to fill, however, so does WMU including at the qb position. Their unit had a not so hot spring. Hiller has only 1 season under him and he did not even play last year. Throwing to Jennings and their former TE (drawing a blank) certainly helped pad his fresh year.

Not to mention the west has too much parity, one loss in conference and no MAC squad is top 25. WMU will not go undefeated in the west.

Nothing like answering a prediction with a complete homer prediction. Yeah there is parity in the West but that doesn't mean there will be a five way tie for first. Someone is going to win it, and I wouldn't trade WMUs team with anyone in the MAC. My only concern for the Broncos sweeping the West is the road game with Toledo. I can't recall the last time a WMU team played well at Toledo in any sport. Ball State and CMU are at home, and NIU is a good matchup so the key game of the season in the West is WMU @ Toledo.

I don't think QB will be anything close to a weakness for the Broncos. It's funny how Chip fans act like having the MAC freshman of the year LeFevour locks them up at QB for the next 3 seasons, and when WMU returns the 05 freshman of the year it is a weakness. I'm comfortable with Hiller who threw 20 TD passes two years ago and had a year to learn the system and heal, or Peregrin who was able to beat both Toledo, and Virginia in his starts last season. It s wishful thinking in Mt. Pleasent to believe that WMU will be weak at QB.
Saying WMU will not go undefeated is not a homer prediction.

I never once said anything about Lefevour

It is not wishful thinking on my part that the qb position is questionable, it came from your own coach and I quote Coach Cubit from this spring, "They all got good work (during the spring), they all got with the first team, so nobody can say that they didn't get their shot," and from USA TODAY, "The competition among Thomas Peregrin, Tim Hiller and Drew Burdi was too close to call. Or maybe more accurately, none of them was able to separate from the others."
"But the coach was disappointed that none stepped ahead. That means coaches will try to select a starter about a week or so into fall camp so the winner can get most of the snaps with the No. 1 offense the rest of the way and prepare for the start of the season.

You are happy, I am glad. All I am asking for was reasons to think WMU will crack top 25 and take the MAC

There's a difference though. LeFevour just came off of a season's worth of experience and has played recently. Hiller hasn't played in like a year and a half. The kid is probably rusty. But to play devil's advocate, i'd be surprised to see LeFevour duplicate last season's success. Akron's Luke Getsy and NIU's Phil Horvath had great junior years and they could not duplicate that same success the following season. Sophomore slumps for both Hiller and LeFevour could very well happen.

OMG! The press has predicted 2/3 of 'directional Michigan' will win. What can the ESPN's bottom 10 do now (lol)

Of course, if the press predicts CMU-WMU will dominate the west, this guarantees that some one else will win it all.
Has Western ever had an unproductive year from their QB when Bill Cubit was coaching him?
Adding the Blue Ribbon Yearbook preview and MAC Report Online's preview would make this analysis whole.

Underrated to overrated in just one year? I hope not, but I seriously doubt the chances to repeat.
