I was racking my brain to remember all of the WEBN jocks during the late 60's and 70's, but couldn't remember them all.
Geoff Nimmo, of course Frank 'Bo' Wood, Denton Marr (Denton Randall) now doing fill-in on WHAS in Louisville and many more.

Anyone else remember names?

WOXR as well. I used to be a regular listener to Bob Nave, but I don't remember anyone else.
The Fat Man!!! I think he was mostly the 80s though...
Ty Williams? Frank Johnson.........too senile to remember.
If you ever want to see an opening band blow away the headliner, go to any Red Hot Chili Pepper gig.

The Chilis have basically gone through the motions everytime I see them but the opening bands have always been fresh, powerful, and creative.

I saw them with Pearl Jam before Pearl Jam got huge (I am no huge Pearl Jam fan but they played their butts off ). Same with Stone Temple Pilots years ago. I missed them with the Flaming Lips, which is a huge bummer because the Lips are fantastic. If you don't own "the soft bulletin", "Yoshimi" etc, run don't walk..
"Bo" Wood = Michael Xanadu; Robin Wood got her start there.

"White Rose and Lilac Virginity Restoration Clinic"

"Tree Frog Beer" ('it doesn't taste like much but it gets you there faster')

Pure Prarie League got their start there.

gruehls

webn is the most overrated and overhyped radio station ever.

I swear the playlist they use today is the same they used 20 years ago.

holy crap that was supposed to be attached to the "heart thread" ooops.

Oh and yes, I agree, WEBN is a caricature of the EBN from its glory days and the playlist has not changed a heck of a lot as O points out. Although I will say that for a period it was an undeniably great rock and roll station.
For me, I liked Robin Wood.

Did WEBN have a love affair with Jethro Tull?
Gruehels, I agree! Always about their own egos at 'EBN. I do, however, thank them for the fireworks.
Robin Wood! Sexy voice and the looks to back it up.

We invited her in to MC an event on UC's campus (1985), and she was great! It was just so weird to hear that voice coming from a person and not my radio.
Can't argue about the "overblown, overhyped" aspect but they had some very good jocks come through.

I moved here in 70 & mostly listened to WOXR "The Magic of Radio".

I always felt since there was lawyer in the blood, the Woods' were really only in it for the money. Everyone knows lawyers aren't whimsical or free spirited. 03-woohoo02-13-banana03-razz

Some lawyers have learned the drinking and partying part pretty good though.:drinky2::band:

She's still blooming (poor pun intended).
One time I bet my buddies on the super bowl (forgot the number) which matched Denver and NYG. I insisted the Giants, featuring one of the great LB corps in NFL history, would make short work of Elway and co. They all laughed at me and took my bet.

What does this have to do with WEBN? Later on Wildman was doing a super bowl wrap-up show, talking about how surprised he was Denver lost, and I called him up to chide him about it and brag that I won $40 03-lmfao
