If he drops his appeal, we lose him for three vs. Washington and 2 vs. Pittsburgh on the road. if he appeals and isn't successful, we lose him for the Astros and the Giants at home. Horan and I say drop it and serve it this week. Any thoughts?

um yea... its 4 against washington and 1 against pitt
He should but I dont think he will....But it's not like SF and Houston are doing good this season, but if he does get a hearing during the AllStar break then he will have quite a long break of atleast 7 games (4 for the ASB, min. of 3 for fight)

I would much rather have him serve it now.
OK sorry for screwing up the games, same difference though, ok ********?
Yes he should.

LOL
Just read an article about D Lee and Chris Young both being in the all star game, and the bottom of the article mentioned that D Lee's original appeal hearing was scheduled for July 2nd and now is postponed indefintely, so who knows when he will even have his hearing, and obviously baseball isnt take it to serious at this point and i can only think that the suspension will be lowered in the end

Quote:Lee has appealed his five-game suspension, and a hearing was originally scheduled for July 2. However, that has been postponed indefinitely.

I find it interesting that players make these appeals. There is some pretty strong evidence that Lee took a swing at Young...not sure how he could pose an argument that he was not involved when he was on TV cameras....just serve the dang suspension geesh.

MD, it's more or less the MLB Players Union MAKING the players appeal their suspensions. Sure, a player could come out and say "forget it i'm not appealing.. i'm going to serve my suspension like a man" but they face extreme pressure from the players union. As a player, you better listen to those guys to or they may not be there when you need them to back you up.

That being said, it would have been very difficult for Lee to drop his appeal even if he wanted to.
The whole MLB suspension/appeal thing is BS. Teams can make these suspensions a joke. Take Young and SD. He started Wednesday night, last start before ASG, and is servinf 4 and the 1st game back. Tell me how a 5 game suspension for a pitcher is even worth doling out.

Yeah I understand what you are saying. The older I get, the more cynical I am of unions. That whole MLB players union intervention into this Buehrle negotiation...that is just absurd. The man loves Chicago, wants some career stability and is willing to take a little bit less than market value yet the union whines about it. I guess I should not turn this into a debate about unions, a huge political debate will get going and then kedzman will jump into the fray and we will have a holy war again on here. :)
