The Athletic Budget has been reduced from a $4 million deficit to a $1.5 million deficit(moving in the right direction-especially with good payoffs coming from the OSU and MIchigan games coming up).Ms Frank's position was cut as the new President implemented cost saving measures. She is a victim of the same cost cutting measures that she used and displaced other personel. The monitoring of athletic finances was not removed as the headline implies but taken over by the University's Finance Department(more centralized monitoring).Dr Jacobs is looking for tighter financial and streamlined controls for the whole University.
So far UT is moving in the right direction.
paying to send wives of coaches to Virgin Islands for a bball tournament is an expense I would not approve if charged with managing a budget deficit.

I agree. If it is sports related, ok. If not, they should pay their way. My suggestion to the coaches is to negotiate this benefit up front.

Oh., it was just a joke. I didn't even read the article at the time of posting. I am happy to see that lowering the loss can be accomplished. The problem is will yours continue? We shall see.
